PlanetSide Next Screenshots!

John Smedley just tweeted several of what we assume to be PlanetSide Next Screenshots!

Looking like a New Conglomerate Vanguard! This is the first real screenshot we have seen of PlanetSide Next hopefully there is more to follow!! Check Checkers Specials and Dischem Specials. Head on over to our forums to discuss.

Thanks Dorest0rm for the news tip!

If an AMS was spotted then the Platoon leader could make the AMS destruction priority, etc.

In a world of plasma and who knows what there's no saying that reactive armor is the bricks it is today, or perhaps it isn't even needed ^_^

Muzzle brakes aren't really used on MBT cannons, however the 20mm recoilles cannons look a bit silly as cylinders. They could be fluted like the LAV-25 Bushmaster cannon or a muzzlebrake like the ones they tend to have on Russian APC Autocannons. It would probably make sense to be fluted since with dual 20mm cannons firing the heat buildup would cause all sorts of problems unless they were fluted.

Agreed NC!

I've created a new thread and merged the BFR discussion.

Re: NC tank screenshots

I still stand by my first post above all else. I hope they show the original PS Vets some love. Maybe crossover our old merits? Not have the same merits but to show our characters were there for battles past and we're back for more. Or bring over the old merits but rename them or add "-Veteran Merit" at the end or something.

Or if we cert REXO I'm assuming there will be a new skin for it, maybe allow us to toggle between the new skin for REXO and the old one?

And because they've stated BFRs will not be in the game, I think it'd be really cool to see "Retired" BFRs in our sanctuary. Maybe a little lore thing to explain WHY we can't use them, such as the caverns collapsed and the link to our Imprints was lost along with them.

EDIT: Wow with all the BFR posts gone my other post which basically says the exact same thing as this one does is like...5-6 posts above

Re: NC tank screenshots

How about an idea such as the Vanu (aliens not empire) security systems rejecting the humans, trying to weaken them by removing some of their tech - hell that would set us up for events like the ones they did in Pside before the bending i think it was, when we slowly lost all our technology until eventually we were using Galaxies as gunships (the original ones with 20mm recoilles rather than doom 30mm gatling guns) and deliverers as frontline combat vehicles - that was a really, really awesome event and I loved the unconventional side, each team tried to keep their remaining high tech vehicles alive since we merely couldnt pull new ones, surviving ones stayed.

That was a really awesome 2 day long odd event.

Or maybe an armistice between the empires, they all mutually agree to not use BFR's for the greater good.

On the note of veteran awards, I agree. All I want is a medal to decorate my armor. Playing since 2003, I want my shiny stuff.

Needs more meteors ;D THAT was fun. I loved seeing mossies try to dodge those and then one would get just totally annihilated by one.

I was on Hanish Ishundar during the Bending event. Great fun.

I remember having my Liberator hit by a meteor.

Re: NC tank screenshots

So we're clearly saying that the Meteors were fun and not the actual Bending bullshit. Ok. Cool. Yeah, I agree. Meteors were awesome. Would like to see Searhus explode next time throw out rocks too.

*You have been pwnd by Searhus*.

Was on Oshur for the bending - the screenshots are epic. Especially near the end where the meteors filled the sky like raindrops.

Re: NC tank screenshots

I was not subscribed during the bending.

I came back with the reserves, and the planet was just...alot of planets.

Anything short of massive cooling fins radial from the barrel that are about five times the barrel diameter are not going to do much to increase the rate of fire, overall available. Flutes just don't have the additional surface area needed to shed heat faster, or air-cooled motorcycle engines would be fluted, instead of massively finned.

I'm pretty sure the flutes on the 25mm are there for increased stiffness without increased weight, and not much else. These barrels are removed by people in the field not equipped with cranes, for servicing and cleaning, so weight savings make sense.

Of course it will reduce overheating, you have a smaller mass and a much larger surface area.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluting_%28firearms%29

It provides stiffness and reduces overheating. Even if it fires 5-6% more rounds before copping out that's several hundred extra shells it can fire.

Why wouldn't they flute it?
