View Full Version : Why disperse?

Ok,
Heres a little storyline question. Why are all 3 of the factions on different continents? What made them disperse and unify in the same area? How did they get the people who opposed them out of the area? I know that the democrats, republicans, and green party didn't divide the country into thirds last election (its a metaphor, let it go)?
Don't we also have to assume that all people on the planet are soldiers? There are no cities or refugee camps in the game, just military bases. So can we assume there was a clarion call for all able bodied people to join the world wide struggle? That would explain the geographic bases (the empire ones that don't change hands).
I don't know ;)

I can't honestly come up with much in the way of storyline, but I'll assume that it was done for gameplay reasons. You want to give all teams a chance to actually group up and figure out what the hell is going on before they die instead of just having them walk out the front door and being greeted by a bullet.
Also, you don't want the entire game to boil down to people only fighting right near their base because that's where everyone is. If you start people spread out, you give them the opportunity to attack from multiple angles on multiple targets without one becoming the hotspot of the action simply because it is right there.

Well crap, they came up with a reason why there were no more births and why there weren't pregnant people - but they can't come up with a reason why all of the military people who all *happen* to agree all *happen* to be on the same continent. Hmmm. I just realized it doesn't matter.

Mistled had it right the first time.
Maybe each group fled from the center of the TR powerbase and built there?

How's this?
TR probably started it's colonization on their continent. The Vanu were originally members of the Expedition Unit and probably set up a substancial base on the continent they discovered the first Vanu artifacts. The NC has been planning for years to someday do something against the TR tyrants and probably stockpiled supplies and weapons on an out of the way continent and then fled there after war began. The military always has it's share of civilian support, but they are all safely hidden away on each empire's santuary so we probably will never see much of them. :)
