View Full Version : Something at higher levels?

I was a beta tester for a while and i bought the game on realease day. The game is amazing, EXCEPT you dont get any perks at higher levels expect different color armor.

So this means a very serious player, worked all his hard time and planned his certs perfectly could be defeated by someone who couldnt give about the game and just bought a cert to have fun.
When you reach battle rank 20, youre no different then a BR1, except for armor.

Now i think you should gain SOMETHING when you become higher so a newbie dosent kill a high ranking, 10 hour at a time player. For instance maybe 10 armor extra a level. That means at BR20 you will have a base of 200 armor. So you add a MAX to that you have 850 armor, where as a newbie in a MAX would have maybe 650-700. That way people who spent hours building them selves up have something to prove for it, not just more certs.

I do like the idea this game revolves around skill, but to purely revolved around it sounds odd. Im sure many high level players would appreciate this, not to mention it would increase peopels eagerness to get levels. So a level say 18 commander can go in and kill maybe 5-6 enemy soldiers and then some instead of just 1 or 2 depending. So a higher level players can take more hits and increase skill, or something to that

Add some perks to high levels, thats all that this game needs.

Now i know im going to flamed in just about every other response here, but im just saying, i think this is a pretty good idea.

Hrp, juh, grt, deh, frh, jik, (Various other sounds of dismay)
It has been said, repeatedly, that the outcome of a 1v1 battle will never depend on BR, all other things being equal.
I mean, holy crap! Perhaps a 10 point bonus at BR 20, if the devs journey endlessly into the void of stupidity ...

Sorry if I sound so harsh... but, sometimes, people just baffle me at their inability to grasp that planetside is primarily an FPS, not an RPG where in PvP level > skill.

One of the things they tried to prevent in this gaem was a high BR guy killing a low BR no problem. They want to make it so anyone has a chance at killing anyone. Too many perks and this rule will be nullified.

Actually, at BR 20 you have alot over a br1. Its called cert points. A br 20 should be much better equiped then a br1, and should be able to counter or adapt to any situation, where as a br1 has medium assualt, reinforced armor, or a vehical......

Not to mention you really should play better if you spent all the time it takes to get to 20. I mean, if your out played by a lvl three, theres just something wrong there.

Tell it to the devs.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Dying to a level 3 as a level 20 should not make you say "I need more l33t advantages because I'm BR20!"
It should make you say "Day-umn, he pwned me. I should try to be that good, or better!" or "HOW did he pwn me? What am *I* doing wrong here?"

Its the classic Counter-Strike reaction to death. You know, when your best efforts with the para fail to the guy with a glock, the first thing thats yelled is "CHEATER! HACKER! OMG BAN HIM! I couldnt have lost"

Dude, you forgot about CR!!! What if a BR20 guy get his A** powned by a BR8 guy? Well did you ever think about the command ranks? A guy with CR5 is a very skilled leader and knows how to act in different scenarios of combat, so it's not something to get down about, if you BR20, its not like your the best out there.. cuz your not, and also, what if a BR20 guy is at 30 health and he goes up against a BR5 guy from NC that has a three round burst JH in his hand... well... it gets ulgy right there, here lots of situations that a low BR guy and kill a high BR guy.

The devs will never give health/armor advantages for higher BR's. They've always wanted everyone to be on a level playing field, so when a noob starts out he is on the same footing.

Well i guess PS is only really for die hard FPS fans. If someone can start a character off with any cert he wants then there no motviation in my opinion.

Hamma i am going to have to say, all motion is realitve, perhaps when the noob stars on the same footing he loves it, but when that noob becomes a high, experienced player, he will not enjoy being on the same footing as the others.

Also here another little comment im going to add, WTH i with the lack of XP split. Im saying when your not in a squad. If you see a MAX and u start fighting, long battle, your taking a huge beating, you almost got him, then someone runs in and gets the last shot with his sweeper, he gets full credit for the kill, hes not hurt and he only shot the guy once, when your now stuck with maybe 10 health and no armor, and are extremely vulnerable and have no more XP then when u started.

I think there should be minor perks, nothing big, just enough to help you some.

Yah but you're team is that much closer to capturing/defending the base thanks to your effort.

Stop thinking so much about "me" and think about "we". Its a team oriented game.

Not to mention, I got 8 different RL friends to buy this game, ONLY because a lvl 1 can kill a lvl 20. Many people would quit if it was more RPG oriented than FPS. I really hope they never implement any advantage like you're suggesting.

MiniOrca, as I suspected, you are playing the wrong game. Who cares if the person with the last hit gets the kill? First of all, this isn't everquest--that means that there is no exp penalty for death, and all you have to do to get exp is just play normally. If you do this, you will get exp. A lot of it. So why sweat things like this. Secondly, for your empire to advance and, subsequently, get the lucrative cap exp, you have to work together with your teammates. That means they will be shooting at the same things you are. Finally, you are just as likely to get a lucky last shot in as someone else, so in the end you'll be getting the same exp.

And anyway, it's not about exp. The fact that a BR1 person in standard armor, if they are good can (easily) kill a fully equipped BR 20 reinforced infantryman with their smg is a basic aspect of the game. BR is not the reason you play, you play because you like killing. In that sense you're right, the game is for FPS fans. You aren't. Either learn to love it or go play one of the many, many other games designed specifically for people that love treadmills and power differentials.

There are. They're called certs and implants.

I am way more survivable and deadly now that I'm BR 8 than I was at 3. I imagine at 20, I'll be significantly better as well as being able to adapt to situations much more effectively.

I just wish there were more aesthetic and non combat perks for leveling. The color changes are kinda.... anti-climatic. I would like to see different helmets... bodyarmor styles as you level, instead of just a bit of a color creeping up. I want to look forward to leveling so i can visibly tell differences in my uniform.

I'm against substantially more combat bonuses for higher level people. It's one of the big downsides of RvR in DAOC. You really have to be level 50 with pleanty of realm ranks to be competitive. In this game you can be competitive on your first day.

All in good time. They've said that there'll be ways to advance your character more at BR20/CR5, and that there'd also be ways to further personalize your character. I imagine different styles of armor would fit in there somewhere.

Seer, i ill have to agree with you, iv followed Planetside for about a year now, and i do have to say, no that ive played it, its not for me.

Im now trying out SWG, on my first day i did more things then i ever did in PS, beta and all, so this is really the end of this topic, your right, play the way it was meant to be, and have fun :)

the best part about this game is the fact that the casual player can do just as well as the hardcore player.

This game is about skill not how much time you have to play.

If you want to feel like you are leet because you play a game for hours and hours then go play EQ

This game does not need to be changed.

Yah I can't stand it when someone thinks that just because they have more free time than I do that they are special.
