In your opinion, on average, how long would this game keep a casual players interest? I love FPS and I also love MMORPGs. (I wish SB wouldnt have been such a lump of laggy steamy poo)

Ive seen some posts where people say that this game will only keep your interest for 30 days or so, and all that there is to it is hacking bases etc.. they say it gets boring. * shrug *

How would you rate the fun scale to SB? lol and yes I am serious about that question.

By SB do you mean Shadow Bane? Never played it, but PlanetSide is addicting to say the least, try the free 30 days and if you don't like it, don't pay more for it :)

Shadowbanes graphics suck to say the least.

Every game has its detractors. PS is an fps that you get to play with hundreds of people on every giant continental map. That's what it is. For people expecting deep character development and uber mobs and quests, yes, they'll quit in 30 days.

It's extremely fun if you approach it on its terms.

IMO the true power of lastability of this game will not be the constant fighting, but instead 2 major aspects.
1. the game is always changing and getting updated
2. the ability and most times prerequisite in working together with out people, friendships will be created, higher levels of tactics will shine thru, and then the true level of war will be seen.

You know.. I have noticed that the game is updated/patched often.. which I consider to be a good thing.. shadowbane on the other hand.. hell I still get sb.exe errors and rubber band all the way across town.. the only thing I have heard from them is "we are confident that we know how to fix it (or something to that affect)" ... well damn then fix it.

I think I will play PS. Any pointers? I wanted to play VS but then I seen that the troops look like they have lipstick and their vehicles look like steamy cow flop.. hovering or not.

Best suggestion I can give you is not to listen to suggestions (inc this one? now im lost?!? )
Go with your gut feel, or the pretty colours, or go random!

Or like me get stuck with whatever your friends are playing :D

Best way to decide which empire is to flip a three sided coin.
