Let me see if i have this right. . . . when you loot a weapon or gear from a dead body and you leave the game you can store that weapon and all the rest of the gear you got in a locker. Then when you log back in you have that weapon and gear to use on your next mission or the next time you log on, right? And vehicles, can you store a stolen vehicle for use when you log back on? Or does it go back into the pool while your away of do you just loose it when you log out? And is there a space limit on what your can store. If anyone can help me out on this please do.

So many questions, so little time.

Enemy vechicles go away after a certian ammount of time if no one is driving it, so you can't keep them when your not logged on. You might as well leave it up for grabs so that other people can make use of it and it won't go to waste.

Not 100% sure about weapons, but I think I heard something close to what your talking about.

im sure with higher rank you gain more space

and i remember reading something about if you have a high rank you get a vehicle storage space? forgot the word. Parking space

If vehicles dissapear after it isnt in use for a while and you can just get your weapons for free at the terminals, I see no purpose for lockers, except for storing enemy weapons, which you can't use anyway. The biggest locker you would need would be pretty small.

If PS is like Diablo and Diablo 2 where you get an ear for killing someone, then you could store the ears in the lockers. Other than that, locker serve no purpose.

hm. i guess there is no use for a locker -_-

maybe there wont be one.

unless somehow theres a shortage in weapons or implants or anything which i doubt will happen

You can use enemy weapons if you have the right cert so a locker would be useful. :)

When I played there were some lockers in the Sanctuary, I would assume its main purpose is storing enemy weapons/ammo because, well you dont need to store your own stuff. You can just go to an equipment terminal and suit up

They used to have apartments, but they were scrapped. Probably because they would slow down the action too much.

Do you have to buy weapons, etc? I missed that.

If you have the cert you can get it free over and over again. :)

Yea there is no "money" for vehicles the cost is time, ie if you spawn a mosquito, crash into the side of the mountin right after. You cannot get another one for x amount of time (dont know the exact timer)

The way I understood it was, you will be able to access your stuff from any locker in the world. So if you store some stolen weapons in a locker in the sanctuary, then access the lockers in a base on some continent, your stolen weapons will be there. Also, you can access lockers while the power's down so you will be able to get some equipment even if the inventory station thingies are offline.

I may be wrong but that's how I understood it...

Will PlanetSide have long term inventory? (http://www.planetside.info/ResourceCP/FAQs/PS-FAQ.shtml#44)

GRRR Link didn't work. Here's what it says:

Will PlanetSide have long term inventory?
Yes. Instead of garages or apartments, characters can now store their "spoils of war" in lockers. Lockers will work like banks in Everquest. You will be able to retrieve stored items from anywhere that has locker access. You may use your locker to store anything you can pick up in the field.

Yea I only saw the ones in the sanctuary - but Im sure there were others. Good catch. :D

How cool would it be to be able to collect ears, or some other trophy of war (would there be anything a commander or squad could keep from a conquered facility??)?? I know the ear thing is childish, but who cares?? It's a game.

I thought we were talking about lockers (or many garages)... we'd need football stadiums for all that stuff.

When your base is hacked can you still get weapons threw the inv station? If not, that would make lockers more usefull, but to tell you the truth i have no idea.

I'm kinda sad the cash system is gone, would have added another element and been very cool.

Hamma
2002-12-24, 11:57 PM
It would have added an element sure, but it would have taken away from the FPS element, IMO it would have turned it into C&C Renegade on steroids

You cannot use equipment terminals while the base is being hacked btw

And what is so wrong with C&C:Ren ? I myself thought that game(well ok demo ) was awesome and i really liked the fact in order to have the cool stuff you had to earn it. You didn't just get it dropped on your lap. :)

Hamma
2002-12-25, 01:02 AM
Yea the problem was 99% of the time you were running around with a pistol trying to earn credits :\ It was fun for like, a day or two..then it got really old

io
2002-12-25, 03:47 AM
Well it pains me to say this but you sucked Hamma. ;)

Seriously i played that demo a lot for a few weeks and i never had any problems getting what i wanted. The trick is/was to learn to use everything not just the 1000credits powergun. :)

Hamma

I'm obviously not the only one that thought that, afterall they cancelled Ren II :D

Meh, not a big lost, the demo was fun but not enough for me to spend some cash on it. I have a restricted budget. :)

Now PS will be worth it that i know. :D

SJ recently posted something to this effect... that wise players will pre-stock their lockers for when the base gets hacked. That way they can continue to get reloads and such when the base is in limbo.

And from the way SJ described stocking your locker, there is a limit to what you can put in there.

i think lockers also help when the generator goes out. but if the base gets all the way hacked (after 15 min.), will the lockers become property of the new owners thus you can't access them (like they changed the locks)

The space in a locker is pretty big u can put 3 Maxs in it so it can hold alot. If a base is captured the enemies cannot take your lockers cuzz a locker can only open to u. So your weapons will not be taken. I am pretty sure that when u go to a locker that your weapons apper in it, so this means that one person get stuff out then another person gets there stuff out of the same locker.(too confusing?):ncsucks: :vssucks: >>>:trrocks:<<<

Ya I think I would throw some extra weapons of my own empire in my locker, that way if the situation changes you'll be ready for everything if the power goes out, and not just have whatever enemy weapon you left in your locker. I'm sure a Repeater or something would be cool to have in the locker, but any NC is going to be much more comfortable with a mag scater since you can just pop it right out of your own terminals, Locker seems just like an emeregency backup to me, plus you can hide your loot there.

I also heard you could deconstruct vehicals and store em away. I don't know if they take up inventory space or if there is just a limit of one.

Of course I could be talking out of my ass, but I swear I heard that somewhere.

repost from the agn interview transcripts:

How are the lockers used? You mentioned this a little earlier.

Lockers are one of those things that I think people will overlook at the very beginning, but theyre extremely useful in a couple of situations. If your generator is destroyed, then your equipment terminals dont have any power in the facility that youre trying to defend, so the only way for you to resupply yourself when the gen is down is to go to your locker and be able to get out of that. The locker is one of the few things that are not powered, so you can pick up stuff from that at any time. In addition, at the gun towers, if you respawn there or happen to be near one, also have lockers in them. Well, if you respawn at a tower, there is no equipment terminal there. So the only thing youre going to have when you go back to a tower is your default configuration, which is like standard armor and a suppressor with some bullets and a RICK (sp?). So the only way youll be able to equip is through a locker until you get to some facility or to an AMS.

Dont get me wrong, PS will be the best game ever written by man, but cnc ren rocks =) I have played that game on and off since it came out. There are still many many people that play it. There were about 30 full servers last night. As far as money goes, I find that I can get anything that I want after about 5 min of running around, then after that, so long as im not killed in 3 secs, you norm have enough money 4 the rest of the game :D The air added a lot to the game when they put it in :D I love flying in a chopper and roasting flame tanks :D But I must admit, there are a lot of those "wonderful" teem players there that are like "do it this way noob!" over and over again.... jsut yelling back and forth.... I just gave up and turned my chat window off it got so bad

But PS will be sooo much better, I would take PS over cnc ren2 any day! then again, its not like we have a choice since Westwood is all but dead now (thanks to the evil EA and the flop of battle for dune, etc

-P.S.
*Just to add something about lockers to stay sorta on topic:*
Lockers rule! W/O them, just lose your power/ someone hacks, and you have no way to get ammo/weapons :p

P.P.S.
EVIL EVIL EA!!!! :domotwak: EVIL EA!!!! *never liked them since they got rid of Battletech 3025 :nazi:
