Don't want to start an uneccessary scare here people, but since day one of playing Planetside my system is regularly "attacked" by what Norton Personal Firewall terms a "High Risk Bla Trojan Horse."

This attack is from "sdlaunchpad1.station.sony.com (64.37.148.142): 3016" and is always blocked by the Firewall, but it repeatedly occurs during Planetside play at apparently random intervals.

Sony have so far failed to respond to this serious issue despite numerous emails.

Symantec's site lists this Trojans payload at
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/backdoor.bla.trojan.html and it makes sobering reading.

Has anybody else come across a similar attempt to drop in this or any other Trojan Horse during gameplay either on Planetside or on any other game via the sony launchpad? I am curious to hear more input from you all on this so please help out.

You know, I've just tried to post this on sony's official Planetside Forum only to receive a "Blocked: Spam Alert" error message on send - I wonder which word triggered their alarm and just which part of this they don't want discussed? It all sort of makes me wonder....

Its a conspiracy, Symantec are NC sympathisers, be afraid.

yep, I got somehting similar to this the other day (when playing PS)....
My firewall jsut poped up saying somehting about somehting (didnt read it, just closed it)

Dont know quite what is going on.... perhaps jsut a temp prog that PS dls to run.. who knows....

My guess is that is is markiting software being installed on your comp...
Wouldnt be the 1st time a company did this

Next time I get a msg from my firewall, I will copy its msg and call sony people, and I recomend you all do the same

Make sure you have PS configured correctly with Norton's Firewall to maximize performance and minimize problems like these.

Open your firewall settings and go to Internet Access Control, then search the list for planetside.exe. If it isn't on the list then add it, then make sure it's set to Permit All and Networked Games category.

Oh and don't worry, Sony isn't attacking your computer, it's just attempting to use a port that is sometimes used by Trojans and Norton's is seeing it as an attack, all it is is a 'misunderstanding' of sorts.
