I currently have a p3 1.4, 384 DDR ram, Geforce 2 Ultra AGP X2. So my question is I want to up grade my graphics card ( 384 more ram in the post before you tell me :) ), However would my PC take full advantage of a latest card or should I buy something Older like a Geforce 3/4 instead?

With computer hardware, it's always a rule of thumb to get the latest out there. Depending on your budget, here are the cards I would recommend (links provided):
ATI 9200 128MBDDR (http://www.str8buy.com/atirad70agp3.html) for $77.00
ATI 9600 Pro 128MB DDR (http://www.komusa.com/giatira9612d.html) for $141.00
ATI 9800 Pro 128MB DDR (http://209.25.135.84/detailsVidCard.asp?productID=1360) for $356.00

I'd say a GF4 unless you plan on upgrading soon... Anything above that will be bottlenecked by your CPU.

The 9200 is on par with a ti4200. I used a 8500/64 rather well. The 9200 is basically an improvement of it. Its not gonna be great or anything, but it will get the job done.

Thanks guys, yeah your right I really should just save up for a new machine. However i'm not really too bothered about how a game looks, along as it runs pretty decent I'll be happy to keep this pc at the moment.

Yea it is better, but the 9500 Pro's are really getting so cheap they are starting to invade the 9200's price range. I saw some adds for 9500 Pro's for like $150 at BB which is not bad for retail.
