Planetside is not good enough a game for people to put up with such unstable servers and bad lag. I'm running a high end PC with 1.5mb down/250kb up DSL and still get the "You have left our world" disconnect every 15 min or so, and quite often it just crashes and several times I've had to reboot. No one is going to pay to put up with such non-sense! And no, "Its only been a while since release" is NOT an excuse, I paid $50 for this game. If they knew there was going to be this much problems, they should have stayed in beta. This game is basically a Tribes clone with bigger maps, and there are sooo many alternatives. I've already cancelled my subscription and I'm going to log in one more time a week from now, if the problem isn't fixed I quit.

Can't vote on those choices because I honestly don't have the problem.

I play about 80% on Werner, 20% Konreid (I'm in the UK) and I might get disconnected or crash once or twice in an evening. Annoying, but pretty much par for the course with a MMPOG. It can get laggy when things get very busy.. but again that's no different from any other game with similar player numbers.

Indeed, if you are really getting booted from the world every 15 minutes or so - and you have a Linksys router - that could very well be the problem. Solution: update the firmware at the linksys website. When I first started playing in Beta I would get disconnected like clockwork every 13 minutes or so ... after updating the firmware for the router the problem was solved.

The owner maintainers and regulars of this site are such huge of this game that they come here to post fiction, bug reports, suggestions, annecdotes and strategy. A few small minded retartds like yourself feel the need to rag on it. No one will deny this game has issues but the overwhelming majority of us feel that the game is worth playing, otherwise we whouldnt be here.

TAKE HIGHSCHOOL SCIENCE

If your gonna post a poll make sure you follow the rules for sfcientific research and have basic common sense, try not to make your poll overly slanted just like most of the similar fucktards who have posted polls just yours.

Try and look for remedies and do research.

here. it doesnt bother me so much when people post bug reports that have been posted but when a wanker comes on and says "IM HAVING THE PROBLEM AND SOE DIDNT DRIVE OUT TO MY HOUSE AND BRING ME PIZZA TO FIX IT I"M NOT PLAYING NO MORE" SOE cares very little and I care even less.

I dunno what all the fuss is about. I play for hours and hours on the Emerald server, and only get actually disconnected once every few days... The lag has been better lately as well. It was worse about a week ago, but still tolerable. I'm just not having the kind of lag and disconnection problems that you guys are having....

Hehe, the disconnect after 15min. thing, got that problem and havent gotten around to fixing it, but here's a link that instruct on how you can supposedly fix it, I myself will get to that in a couple days and hope it works then, but really if it helps you awesome :thumbsup:

I noticed most people who flame a game like this have a few things generally in common.

1. Your PC sucks. Its possible your PC doesn't suck and you have these problems, yet resort right to blaming the game before you do even the slightest amount of research.

2. Your skill as a player sucks. Yes, most people might crash once or twice a night, but its a lot easier to get over the crashes when you're a good player. When you aren't very good at the game, your frustration accumulates with the stability problems and becomes a destructive catalyst that evolves into an ill-informed and poorly logical post.

There was a couple other points but I forgot them while eating these fajitas.

My lag besides the occassional door not working (during which I could still reload fine) was nonexistant this weekend. I didn't have any problems with zone crashes, lag bursts, not being able to reload, at all.

All in all a massive improvment over the past few weeks.

I could be wrong but sometimes the door thing isnt lag related, but a ghlitch in the matri...errr planetside. Supposedly their working the problem of that and occasional IFF locks that noone can hack.

I found something that works for me. Go to your props on desktop, Screen Saver, Settings, Turn off monitor, set to never. My game's worked fine since then.

I have no problems. For the most part the servers are stable. What I mean by that is they go down every once and a while for patch updates or whatnot... Nothing different from any other MMO game.

Of course, I get a terrible FPS, but that's because I don't have a high-end PC. :p

Is anybody else getting very tired of hearing this? Planetside is not a Tribes clone. There is no flag to capture. There are no jetpacks. The physics are completely different; you don't ski down mountains and combat is not similar. They have similar traits, yes, but it is not "basically a Tribes clone."

I think you summed it up. I crash maybe once a weekend, and we're talking 7 hour stretches here. During my normal evening play (4 hours or so), I have no problems whatsoever. The occiasional door that can't be hacked, but never any CTDs.

Gotta say this weekend was better then it has been.

I play on Emerald, did all the way through beta (well once they brought it up) and joined early on opening day.

I have solid mid-line computer, with a gig of RAM, and a cable connection. to put it another way I double all the minimums that PS needs.

I'm not some stupid computer noob, I've worked in the industry for 9 years now working on and supporting microsoft products, and dinking with Hardware as a hobby.

Before this weekend I found PS unplayable durring prime time (simple sollution didn't play durring prime) Some times I would have no problems, and could play for hours, then some times, it would crawl. I never had the kicked problems so lucky for me!

I'm glad they are working on it, it is looking much better and I gotta say it looks like within a month all the lag will be a thing of the past that people in the PS old-folks home will talk about.

So I voted for 1 month, simply because I will evaluate if i should spend 13 a month for a game I can only play from 9pm-3am,
Be it because my computer sucks or the netcode sucks, or whatever you want to say sucks. People who spend money to play, should be able to, and if you can't then go find a game with lower requirements and play it!
