im playing ps and it locks up. i restart my comp and i get this screen i have never before seen. it says somwthing like windows cannont start and i get 5 options. they were: startin safe mode, safemode with networking, safe mose with command prompt, last known good config and start windows normally.

i chose start windows normally and it takes me to this blue screen that says window cannot start. under that was this:

unmoubtable_boot_volume

then it tells to do this stuff like turing of bios and disableing cacheing and says to do this press F8 when in safe mode. im like ok. so i resatrt and press F10 while it is booting. pressing F10 brings up a setup menu. im not really good with tweakinhg comps so i left it alone in fear of messing it up even more. i chose the other 4 options and got the same screen.

just wonderinbg if ne of u can help me out here or tell me what
unmoubtable_boot_volume means. thx :D

Well, im German but let me help you :)
unmountable boot volume is normally a typical problem of Win XP.
I don't know why it happens and why it appears so unregularly.
But it can be fixed without reinstalling the OS and losing data if you take a second HD with Windows on it. Take this harddisk an put the jumper on Master. Your "old" HD with the boot volume problem should be set as slave. Now, boot with the Master HD an as soon as your on the desktop, reset the pc and change the jumpers to the normal setting (it means that your HD with the boot volume Problem should now be set as master again)
The other HD which you booted from isn't needed any more.

If your old, fixed HD is set to master again, you can boot just like normal. The unmountable boot volume problem should now be fixed.

Becaus of this problem, i`ve put a cheap 10Gig HD with a second windows (and some music :D )on it in my pc. If the problem now appears, i only have to change the Jumpers, boot only once with this 10 gig HD, and the Problem on the main HD should be fixed.

Yes, the Win XP Cd is recomended, but it doesn't work on my machine. but neverless, the main thing is that your pc is now working again :)
See you in PS ;)
