Warped is a good time. My brother's band Midtown plays it most years. This year they have a tour with Reggie and the Full Effect so they won't be around I think. Warped's lineup this time around is pretty damn solid though.

I always buy the cds though.

There seem to be quite a few really bad bands mixed in there, but also a lot of good ones

What's this though?! No NOFX?! THAT'S EVIL

I'd go just to see Dropkick Murphy's though

Yeah there are some shitty bands but all in all it seems to be shaping up pretty well. If in fact Taking Back Sunday reunites maybe they'll make the tail end of the tour. We can hope.

I'd basically be going for a few choice bands:

Pennywise
Rancid
Dropkick Murphy's (I love them)
Me First and the Gimme Gimmies

Another band I'm disappointed is not on the list is U.S. Bombs, they rock

Zenny
2003-06-17, 02:41 AM
Ya, the bands that I am going to see are mostly Less Than Jake, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, and Slick Shoes

2003-06-17, 02:42 AM
Less Than Jake is alright, they're pretty cool, I love their cover of "I Would Walk 500 Miles"

Damnnit, another one i didn't see is the Mighty Mighty Bosstones, I love them too.

r3d, i wouldn't go as far as to say that all those bands, suck, there are quite a few VERY good ones, but then there's crap like Taking Back Sunday and Simple Plan

Good ones include:
Less Than Jake
Me First and The Gimme Gimmies
Rancid
Dropkick Murphy's
Pennywise

and probably a lot more that I'm just not seeing

Warped Tour generally has a pretty solid lineup, although I wish the Mighty Mighty Bosstones were playing this year :(

Bah, you don't know good music

Have you ever even listened to Drop Kick Murphy's?
obviously not if you're calling Less Than Jake more hardcore than them...

I don't really like all that hardcore crap though, they tend to disguise thier lack of musical talent with huge amounts of distortion and bass

Warped tour = garbage.

Sure, there's a few great bands there. But the shitty pop-punk out numbers it to greatly.

Like, WTF is this band (http://www.switchbladekittens.com/) doing there??

Looks like a bunch of shitty bands this year... with the only exceptions being:

Dropkick Murphys
Rancid
Suicide Machines
One Man Army

Yeah the lineup leaves some bands to be desired. I come from a big punk rock upbringing but I fell off the Warped hype a few years back. I turn to the other shows for my fix of good music.

although with the whole pop punk thing on mtv...i think alot of people i dont want to see will be there...although i hope AFI and some other bands will play "old" stuff that appeals to me more

The President

Yeah I hear ya Ho, I know it sucks having alot of our favorite bands concerts that have been our favorite bands for a long time being over-run by 12 year old girls screaming I love you Davey! But having family in the biz I've grown to realize that this is a necessary step in the life of bands, sucks on some levels but benefits the band and thus their music, if they remain true to themselves and dont let the shit-talkers and the people all about the money poison them.
Rock on.

I hear ya man, to each his own.. I respect TBS alot and I hope they get back on their feet. I hate seeing good bands collapse in their prime.

just becuase your not a hardcore fan of something doesnt mean you cant respect it...i mean i mainly listen to "emo" but i respect most music...infact one minute i may be listening to something as soft as bright eyes and dashboard confessional...next minute i may be litening to The Blood Brothers or AFI

Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies turn me into a puddle of goo when I hear them live. Wish I could go this year but the closest one to me happens the same time as something else i'm doing.

I ain't saying there's anything wrong with "emo"......... par-say (sp?)......Not at all.
To each their own.

But the whole grouping emo with Punk...... eerr... yea.

Whats the questtion? By me saying that I come from a big punk rock upbringing is me stating that most of the men in my family have and or played in bands of this "genre" or listened to the tunes for the better part of my life thus exposing me to this at a young age. This is not me grouping emo into the punk rock category. I hate classifying music, to me all that it matters is if it rocks or not.
My reference to TBS is that as of late they have been experiencing troubles within their ranks, and I was addressing the fact that I respect them as musicians, as I have watched them work to where they are for the last three years, and that I hope they sort out their shit.

Well, i just got the compilation cd today, listening to it now, can say so far, i'm not that impressed

there's some good bands in there, but there seems to be an abundance of pop punk, indie, and emo :(

I think i liked the 2001 cd better

Doobz
2003-06-20, 11:41 AM
Hmmm... well, the second cd seems to be shaping up much better than the first, with the Bouncing Souls and Dropkick Murphy's starting it off

the first had some good songs on it, but it was mostly emo or indie rock with a few exceptions (NOFX, i love them, great band)
