View Full Version : 3rd implant?

I'm trying tobuild the "perfect grunt" and I'd like to get some input on what I should pick for my 3rd implant. (I want to emphasize the word trying, since I play Vanu :) .) So far I have picked Surge and Darklight - two implants I find hard to do without...

I've taken up both Medic and Engineer certs, so patching myself up - aswell as others - is no issue. "Survivability" is important to me. So what should I pick now, as I am closing in on BR18?

Myself I'm thinking either Second Wind, or Advanced Targeting.

Second Wind might be just the ticket in close fights, man on man (or woman). If they get the upper hand, Second Wind, might be just what I need to come out on top. Cons is that I've heard that it's not that good, besides there are seldom any stamina left to use when You are on the brink of death anyway.

Advanced Targeting can tell me how I am doing on a target, or if I have several to pick, it can help me pick the one that are closest to go down (most hurt). Cons are that as a grunt You rarely get to "pick Your target" (You must fight the guy who is right in front of You), and possibly that this is an "active" implant (ie. it drains stamina if it's being used).

So... Could I have some input, please?

Personally, I enjoy adv. targeting over 2nd wind because of being able to see health thing.

But really, I'd say choose adv. targeting or audio implant thing, both are great

and for the record, audio thing - increases volume of sounds? and when a enemy runs it shows up on radar to see if any are sneaking around ;)

for a grunt?

surge/2nd wind/dark light. in that order.

surge is obvious. greater mobility = better chance to kill the enemy.

2nd wind is the shit. with surge on it really is like a 2nd wind. you run out of stamina, get hit to low hp. 2nd wind activates and you're back to surging. it's another "life." if you're good, staying alive means more dead enemies.

darklight I don't really use much. I'll flick it on and now and then but infiltrators don't give me much of a headache. with both those implants until br18 you'll be forced to learn to search for clues where infiltrators are. it will benefit you more in the end instead of the lazy click-on-look-around-move-on.
