View Full Version : Okay, this needs to be asked...

Hello,

I'll give you the short story first, and then I'll ask the question:

I was approaching a friendly NC base last night on Emerald, and I knew hostiles were in the area. As I got close to one of the courtyard entrances, I came under fire. I looked to my left and saw two TR folks in the trees moving towards the entrance. Being alone and in the open, I punched it with my surge implant--laying down surpressive fire on the way.

After rounding the corner of the inside wall, I stopped and reloaded my weapon. An NC friend was on the other side of the entrance drawing fire now, so I decided I would charge out. Hopefully the enemy would be distracted and I could kill at least one of them. As I charged around the corner, I saw twoo distinct things:

1. A TR to my left in full view firing at the NC on my left flank. He was not ghosted, shaded, lagging, warping, jumping around, or anything. He appeared to be on an equal connection to me with no delays.

2. A TR right in front of my, literally a few feet, who was ghosted like a stealther would look while at a full run. He was wearing reinforced armor and had a rifle of some sort. I was immediately lit up by the ghosted guy, and it was not a pistol. Both him and the fully visible guy on his right flank both moved at the same rate, neither of them were warping around, and both of their fire matched the damage and tracers as I saw them.

Okay, so here's my question:

If this was lag, as JokerGod tried to suggest it was when I confronted him in tells rather upset, then how come the two guys together didn't have the same ghosted image, same warping, and other tell tail signs I have seen one hundred times before because of lag issues? I've seen lag ghosting before, and it is either everyone in the immediate area, or no one in the area. The lagging person cannot fire and immediate injure you either. Either they are warping around, and then I magically die a second later, or it is dead on timing wise.

My problem with this JokerGod guy is that he appeared to be cloaked but was in reinforced armor with a rifle. When I scrolled back to look at my death notice, it looked like the rocklet icon on the text window, but later I could not confirm it. All I know is that he was not carrying a pistol, and he was not in a stealth suit. Based on my experience with lag, and I've had a ton of it, what happened had to be either a glitch in the game or an obvious cheater.

When we were talking in tells, he said he didn't give a fuck what I thought and that "I have been informed." I have no idea what the hell that means, but he never said he was a cloaker or tried to imply it. He knew I had seen him cloaked with reinforced and a rifle, so I guess he wouldn't try. I'm kicking myself for not getting a screenshot. He was reported though, but I'm not sure what good it will do. I'm going to get used to takign screen shots in an instant now, and the next time this crap happens I'm going to start having proof of what I experience.

A lot of people on here have said they've experienced this sort of thing, and until last night I had not had a good dose of it myself. However, what happened to me clearly seemed like an exploit. The guy knew he was cloaked, and everything about the situation made me think he was using the commonly mentioned glitch/bug on here where switching your armor from inf to regular keeps you cloaked. Speaking on infiltrator suits, after my bitching him out in tells a IRL friend later saw him in an infiltrator suit, and he was killed with the common TR pistol. (So the guy does have the certs to perform the exploit from what I understand).

If both guys I saw had the same cloaked image, I was experiencing any lag at all, if it was a crowded fight which it was only like 8 people total in the entire SOI, or either they cloaked guy or the other guy were warping around I might have accepted his story that it was just lag. Based on what I saw though, the guy is a cheating SOB.

16) The exploit allowing folks to get the stealth effect to "stick" to an incorrect armor type has been sealed.

From the upcomming patch

So 1 of 3 things

He was legit and lagging, though doubtful under the circumstances you describe

He was exploiting by accident and didn't realize it

He is a tool

Whichever it is I find that confronting people on this stuff is worthless, so I allow sony to handle it (as they are with the upcomming patch!)

What you experienced, hunter-R, was an exploit where you can be cloaked as any armour type. Don't worry though, it is being fixed in the latest patch.

Hello,

So this will be fixed in an upcoming patch, or it has supposedly already been fixed? This happend to me last night on Emerald. It is very recent.

Didn't post original but thanks for responding :)

And no these notes are to an upcomming patch, probably in the next day or so.

So yes, Agathon, they know how to fix it and are releasing the patch soon. :)

well the craziest thing i've seen along these lines was a sniper cloaked in an infaltraitor suite.
