Only thing I can think of is triple monitor support but it's still a very messed up res. How would the images look :|

That would be gross. :p

The screen would have to look like this

------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------

if those lines were all connected that is, and it had edges...

I hope they don't delay the patch waiting for a 3000 x 800 resolution monitor :p

they better not delay the patch for that stupid thing

look here for monitor (http://www.apple.com/displays/acd23/)

Even this monster can only handle 1920x1200.

I do not understand how the images would even look right on 3000x800

They'd have to maintain the same proportions on the graphics, or it would be a total joke (everything 3x wider than it is now). So you'd just have a MUCH wider field of view, I guess.

That seems unfair, come to think of it. We should call for a nerf immediately!

Widescreen. :) Nice. Wish I can afford one.

These two two (at 1000x800 each) would give you 3000x800.

But personally I'd just be happy with good dual monitor support. ie: Keep one monitor the standard window and keep the second one up as a map. Especially useful for commanders.

Dev #1: well the little people are complaining about some bug that makes you CTD all the time perhaps we should fix that...

Dev #2: screw that I jsut picked up this sweet ass monitor with the bonus i got lets work on a resolution fix so I can play PS on it.

Dev #1: yea, silly me what was I thinking, so where can I get one of those babies?

its for those with 50" displays (if I remember right), they use that setting.

Ghost06

The only monitor that can support 3000x800 civilian would be a 30" LCD.

MrVulcan
2003-06-18, 02:27 PM
30 lcd is the very rectangle shaped one right?
That makes sence.
**I think alienware sells those**

The only reason you would ever use a 30' LCD IMO would be to show off to some chick friend. I personally prefer 19" CRTs, on 1240 x 768 res. Minimum wide-screen res too.

I agree about dual monitor support. I'd rather see that than support for a panoramic LCD monitor that maybe .00001 of their consumer base has. I think the earlier post hit the nail on the head--some developer got one and they decided to make the change public.

I've been trying to decide whether to by a 19"X3 panoramic or make house payments for the rest of the year.....

I had a 21" trinitron that I bought in the early 90s from Gateway. I loved that monitor to death, and it finally crapped out on me a couple of weeks ago. I looked at LCDs and read every review on Tom's Hardware for monitors. I was thinking about getting a nice widescreen LCD, but I couldn't justify the cost or performance comparison with CRTs. Rather than spending a couple grand to get a monitor with fixed res and pixels that die, I spent just under $600 to buy a Mitsubishi 22" Diamondtron CRT. It is teh uber and I have already paid it off.

Maybe I'll get a LCD in another 9 years when this monitor dies.

Anyone know how yo use custom reolutions in PS? I am using power strip to get 1368x768 on my projector (a 16:9 widescreen) for my desktop, but I can't force PS to use this resolution. I've heard it is possible and was wondering if any of you had any expereince with it.

why dont you just change ur resolutions and see what it looks like? or cant you, if your moniter doesnt suit it?

Given the fact that a well-tweaked 2.4 gig P4 with 1 gig of ram and a radeon 9700 has trouble running the game at 1024 * 768 at the very lowest settings, trying to run it at that resolution is just plain. Well. Sheesh.

Seeing that I run PS at 1024x768 on my Radeon 9700, AMD Athlon 2400, and 1GB RAM with HIGH settings and NO slowdowns or problems, I'de have to say that your computer must be ... mislabeled. Or you need to stop running two copies of PS at the same time.

Even in the heat of battle, I rarely dip below 30fps.

I run Ps at full detail on a Athlon 1900XP, Geforce 4 4300 128mb, 1gb PC3200 and still dont get any slowdown, so i agree, your system is screwed. Thats at 1024x768 BTW.

Bleh ;-/

I've spent hours and hours trying out various drivers (old ones, new ones, unofficial, "hacked" ones...), different settings (anti-aliasing, vertical sync, fast write etc.), tweaking RAM times in the BIOS, changing graphics aperture size, changing operating system, changing PS graphics settings, trying out different virtual memory settings ... the list goes on.

I'm finally at the point where the FPS doesn't go any lower than 25 (and that's in the really crowded zergs), but that's still 25 too low to be able to aim properly, and with absolutely slaughtered graphics.

That's where I started out ... and where I got to after each windows reinstall.
Not to mention that UT, Q3 etc. run *very* well. My 3dmark benchmarks are good, compared to other identical machines in the online directory. It's only in PS I have problems.

This is a resolution popular with the Flight-sim nuts out there. But I try to steer clear of those types - they tend to own multiple gun racks.
