What do you think will make more money? Episode 3 or Return of the King?

Anyone who votes for starwars deserves a bullet in the head. Those movies are the worst pos's ever.

OK, so the "modern" Star Wars sequels suck....
But Ep. 3 is gonna make tons of money based solely on its name recognition and the army of rabid fanboys out there and those who just enjoy the franchise. Before the first LoTR movie, Tolkien's works, while easily recognizable, didnt have the instant allure of Star Wars. Star Wars still has a greater fanbase, and as such will reap more profit then the still-large-but-not-as-large LoTR demographic.

Ok bored at work so here goes...

Looking at this website--
http://movies.go.com/boxoffice/Alltime.html

The Two Towers is #7 ALL TIME money makers with $330,104,919

Star wars episode #2 is #12 with $310,675,583

Now lets look at the trend.

LOTR #1 is #11 with $313,364,114

Star wars Episode #1 is #4 with $431,065,444

So what you see is---
LOTR has Increasing $$$ as the movies are released, 17,000,000 more from episode 1 to 2.

Star wars is loosing its profits FAST. A simply stunning 121,000,000 decrease from episode 1 to episode 2. That is just stunning.

So if this trend continues LOTR #3 should do much much better than SW episode #3.

dunno. Im still of the mind of "current draw and popularity, final epic of two recent super-successes" vs "historical draw, final episode after two lackluster prequels"

not to mention...

Frodo vs Jar Jar

*shudder*

I have to vote LoTR for boxoffice $

Niether, they both suck.

That's impossible, Ryuuji. The poll reads "Which one will make more money." Unless neither of them are released, one of them will have to make more money.

Return of the King will most likely make more money.

I don't know man. That battle scene towards the end of the second LOTR was pretty long. I ran out of popcorn and depleted my drink during that scene. I couldn't help but have to piss the whole time as well.

Star wars... I just like looking at that fine piece of ass. We all know who I am talking about. (loaded responses antisipated)

LOTR=Medicore movies based on shitty books that, while they should be respected for their influence on modern fantasy writing or rather the inspiration for many of todays fantasy writers, are horribly overrated.

90% of Fantasy stories tip their hat to Tolkien (that name is hard to spell)
He set the standard. He created a large believable world, and had an interesting plot with great characters. (Gandalf? Legolas? Teh Baelrog?)

Star Wars will make more money. This episode will have to explain the Siths' existence, and various other plot holes. Or they could just ignore that completely and go for Boyband Vader turns into Darth Vader and kills all but two jedi (They wanted balance in the force, they're gonna get it). But I know one thing for sure: JarJar WILL die. Does anyone remember the old morning show for Z-Rock (if you get that station), "Mad-Cow's Morning Madhouse" (or something like that)? Well, the main guy knew Lucas, and got a few spoilers around a month after episode 1 came out. The two I remember are: Yoda would kick the shit out of someone, and JarJar WOULD die. I hope Vader gives him a gruesome one and it's not just some crappy attempt at slapstick. I will be cheering with my friends in the theatre either way, though. party:

I don't agree with that at all. I'd say LOTR has the bigger fanbase worldwide. I guess you haven't seen how insane people are about LOTR in other countries. I think ROTK will definitely do better than the third Star Wars.
