View Full Version : Thoughts on the post-patch pulsar

After using the pulsar for a bit, I have to say it is a very powerful weapon. The ability to instantly switch between ap mode and normal mode, with no penalty whatsoever, just completely rocks. It's nice to see that the vanu 'versatility' isn't such a double edged sword where the pulsar is concerned. It almost feels overpowered, even--in a medium assault duel between myself and another medium assault user, I can almost always force them into hiding or kill them before they do significant damage to me.

Of course, I still lose versus specialized weapons (to the bolt driver at extreme ranges, to the thumper when the user has the high ground, to the HA and shotgun in CQ), but it does its job--medium range AR--very well. I might add that I didn't think the pulsar was -that- bad at what it did before the patch.

What does everyone else think?

the pulsar alone was a good fix for the vanu

no more laughing at the vanu over open ground now

Would you go so far as to say it is better than the.... Cycler....?

Can't wait to try the new improved Pulsar. I carried it around all the time before this patch. I loved it more for its AP mode than anything else. I've killed quit a few MAX units with it and it also is great for bringing down Reavers and Mosquitos when they're distracted.

Well, the cycler is a high damage, high rof, low accuracy weapon. At medium ranges my ability to damage cycler users outstrips their ability to damage me, but at closer ranges I'd say the cycler kills more quickly, since it can take advantage of the high damage and high rof. I think I still would prefer to use the pulsar for the ability to switch between ap and ai.
