I just saw a post saying PS was to ship in Dec. 2003... very far. Ive also heard March too. Big Difference. Anyone have any thoughts?

Planetside's official FAQ says Q1 of 2003. So that will probably be around march. Whgere did you hear that it was coming outn in dec. 2003?

You've gotta know it's going to take longer than March just to do a beta test, unless they end up like Anarchy Online and release it too early, in which case if they do that I'd kill them....all.

MMO release dates are much altered by their respective betas and rarely ever hit gold unless the dev team decides there's been enough internet beta testing. Neocron was in beta for at least a year.

No way will it be Dec 2k3. As our great Hamma stated this is NOT a MMORPG, it's an FPS, a lot less stuff to manage. And the game is already done the only thing left is debugging(hence beta) i really doubt they will spend a whole year debugging. I think a March release is pretty realistic, maybe April.

March-April does sound realistic for an FPS, but things could go wrong. Neocron was "done" when they started testing too. :p

With all of those preview reviews though, it seems like Planetside is much more done than not done, so I think it'll be ok. ;)

Well i dunno about Neocron but from what Hamma saw in the press beta and the internal going on now it seems pretty much well done and with exclusive starting soon it should mean a "bug-free" (a game is never bug-free :p) copy of PS "soon" so maybe it will take longer than March or April but NO way will it be Dec 2k3. If PS comes out in Dec2k3 then sure you can kill me. :)

I'm not saying T2 didn't launch with a lot of problems, i'm saying unless you work for a dev company then you can't really complain about it. No offense to you it's just that (after the numerous patches you had to download) T2 was one of the best games ever made and i get tired of the PS people bitching about it.

Just thought I would add this little piece of info, first off I have no clue where gamespy is getting there intel, but I have 2 copies of PlanetSide reserved. Sony has already put out a release date to Game Stop so people can reserve there copy/copies of the game right now. Game Stop has been told the release date has been set for 3/5/2003. Of course this is subject to change if they have any unfinished beta testing to be done, but untill they have changed it this is the official release date.

Anyways, I doubt that SOE will push for the release of Planetside as long as they've been working on this, and then spit out a game that's half done like Sierra did.

Sounds like everything is going great from what Ive been hearing, and I was very pleased to hear that they will have 99% of the bugs out even before it gets to the beta testers.

I'd seriously just HATE to see another game get ruined by bugs, like T2 was. In all seriousness, there would be at least triple the people playing T2 still if it didnt have all these problems from the beginning. Im really looking foward to this game and I can just hope that beta testers do their job, instead of having the attitude of "wow, i get to play this game before anyone else".

I figure Verant did a pretty good job with taking alot of the bugs out of Everquest when it came out. I didn't play it much in the beginning though, so maybe I never got to see. I do have pretty good faith in them though, just because of the things you guys have been saying about the previews the people have played. Even if they give it a few more months, I can wait that long and it'll be that much better (sorry, I kinna forgot what I was trying to say in the middle of the post, but I know I wanted to say something along those lines).

Learn to read the sentence BEFORE the 2nd second (the LAST sentence) in that paragraph. I know you failed English class and/or had to try really hard to get through it, but normally ONE paragraph stays on the SAME subject. That subject was about SOE releasing PS early like Sierra did with T2, and T2 was FULL of bugs and major problems. That's where the "nightmare" part comes in.
