On the home page of PSU there's a poll of who people think is the most overpowered. The NC have the most votes. You know what this means.

It'd be a sad, sad industry if Internet polls had the capability to alter game balance. The only thing a poll can accomplish is to, if it's a sweeping majority, get the developers to take a look to see if there actually is a problem. If they find that there is indeed something wrong with the game in whatever aspect indicated by the poll, they'll work out a solution. If there isn't, they'll chalk it up to people simply going with the flow, and disregard it. These games exist by keeping members, so by all means if there are numerous complaints about something they'll see if there's anything to be fixed to mitigate the situation, but a poll saying one thing is overpowered will not automatically cause a change to occur.

Right...because everyone knows a poll on a fansite is the end all to game balancing :p

Leave the NC alone. They're fine as they are. I was kicking plenty of NC butt just an hour ago as a puny Vanu hacker. Nerf em and it will get too easy.:D

the only thing that needs a tweak is the range of spread on the jackhammer. the striker not getting nerfed scares me way more.

Jackhammer I really don't care about. What's really making me mad is the NC Anti-Air MAX. The missles are almost impossible to lose. I swear. They fire in way to quick succession, and there is a very low chance of avoiding them. I may not be the best pilot in the world, but I should be able to lose those missiles.

See? It's an endless cycle.
VS says "nerf this NC/TR thing"
NC comes on and says "no, NC don't need to be nerfed, nerf the TR/VS thing"
TR comes on "no, TR doesn't need to be nerfed, nerf the NC/VS thing"
There is a difference between one faction wanting the other faction to be easier to kill, and nerfing stuff to balance the game.
Sadly, 99% of the people who cry "nerf" are the kind I first mentioned.

Quite frankly, VS has every right to be bitter.
edit: Er, sorry. When you said the "first people" I assumed you meant the first people in the faction list (ie. VS) and my VS persecution complex kicked in. Nevermind :P

Ever notice that the folks that squeal about leaving the Jackhammer alone, are the ones who probably depend on it totally for any kills whatsoever? The range needs to be looked into. Notice i didn't say damage? Shotguns are supposed to have massive damage at CLOSE RANGE. Not the same damage at 100 meters away. Unless its some kind of depleted uranium buckshot in the JH, that kind of range just isn't possible. Game or not. I'm not saying to run and nerf it, but i'm suggesting that the range is needing a peek. Nothing needs nerfed anymore, enough damage has been done to certain weaps..ahem..TR Chaingun..ahem. What needs to be nerfed is the GD lag that violates the highlight of my day gaming goodness lol.

I don't advocate a nerf on the Jackhammer. I believe very few does. Most of us want to see the other factions HA weapons being just as good as the JH. It's 4 cert points to get access to one weapon. It should be good. As I've said before though, currently the JH is the only weapon worthy the Heavy Assault label.
Let the JH stay in its present form but improve the Mini-Chaingun (tighten COF) and the Lasher (Speed up orb and increase damage), to bring them up to par.

I posted that poll because i was curious the response. I doubt it will have much affect on it getting nerfed or balanced

i figure the JH needs to have less COF because it shouldnt be used outside unless its for an ambush
however, nothing SHOULD survive it indoors, period. "2 shots on a reinforce exosuit" should be exactly how long it has to live, if you take away NC's close quarter fighting ability, they have nothing, shall i bump my thread that shows the abilities of all empires and where they should focus attacks?

THe fact is the Jackhammer isn't that great. Tons of newbie NC rushed out and certed in it bc all the people complaining it was overpowered genreated hype. BUt a few days later they traded the JH in for something else. I play all 3 empires and have used the JH, let me tell you it is only good at close range and is horrible outside, UNLESS you are using surge. But I have been cut down many a times by a single TR with a CYCLER while I was wearing reinforced in a a few seconds. NO the JH isn't overpowered.
THe chaingun is fine if you know how to use it. Many NC often curse the lone chaingunner who comes in and wipes use all out in mere seconds. You shouldn't be able to rave with a chaing gun and still have any accuracy, short controlled burst fire is what you need. The only heavy assault weapon I think that needs changes is the VS. The VS are still underpowered in most ways, Jumping maxes, strafing tanks, and the ability to switch btwn AP and reg ammo isn't all its cracked up to be.

The devs don't come here for ideas, so all you're doing is basically spam. I've noticed so many people just seem to be waiting for the right time to insert a comment about the jackhammer we've all heard before.
