View Full Version : Good or bad?

We appreciate feedback from our community and take it very seriously. However, even the range of human opinion has its limits. We have heard the Jackhammer feedback and the issue is under evaluation right along with continual weapon balance in general. I am making a formal request of the community to trust us in having heard your opinions and taking them into consideration.
However, the subject of the Jackhammer is way out of hand. Can we cut down on these threads so that other feedback has the chance to stay in the early pages of the forum? I have no problem with somebody starting an official Jackhammer thread, but excessive posts on the subject will be locked from here on out.

Nothing I have said here implies any action or inaction on the subject. Only that we hear you and we'd like to see other topics get their fair representation as well.

Good or bad?

Asking whether or not this is good or bad is a bit of a misnomer. Ultimatly I dont care because I avoid the Official Forums like I avoid SARS. But as has been pointed out they are not a democracy, they are a business and as such even their forum is allowed to conduct itself however they please. People seem to forget that the first amendment protects their freedom of expression from being trod upon entirely, but doesnt doesnt protect any specific channel. THis is exactly one of those cases.

Personally I could stand to see a few less posts with nerf this and nerf that in the body or subject, but I whould hope that as people start to become better players some of this will go away.

Good.

To me, this basically sounds like "Give it a rest, will Ya?". All the other threads, that takes up different issues, simply drowns in a multitude of JH threads.

They, the devs, are having a look at it (which will hopefully not result in a simple/boring/upsetting nerf of the JH) and that's good to know, in my opinion.

If they would just listen to the community and nerf this obnoxiously over-powered weapon, the threads would stop.

How ever I do agree that they should listen to the community but I must arouse the fact of FPS community nature.

Lets Talk About CS Perfect Example

Cheater!!! if someone kills more then 3 people in a row without dieing.

Lets Look At Planetside.

Overpowered Weapon!!! if someone kills more then 3 people in a row without dieing.

Does Anyone Else See The Similarity Here???

Good. He is just saying "Ok we heard you the first thousand times". This game still has major issues that should take precendence over the jackhammer.

For example, this game really needs some incentive to defend bases beyond what is in there. People see a zerg coming, and they just walk around it and attack another base behind the attacking force.

Hello,

I'm sure they are sick of the whiners, and it is good that they are cracking down on it imho. In close up battles I think the damned chain gun is insane, but do you see me complaining? Nope. It is just like a Magrider to me. If someone needs to use such a tactic to kill me, so be it. Let them have their fun. I enjoy the game most when skilled people work together for a common objective. If someone needs such a weapon to have fun, let them have it frankly. I can still kill them with skill and tactics. There is no reason to be calling for all of the nerfs people request. Pounders still maul me, but I enjoy killing them even more. My bottom line is this, and people can take it for what they want or flame me for my belief:

Trying to balance each side will ruin the game, and you'll never please everyone unless all weapons are common pool, everything is boring vanilla, and there is no edge over your enemy in a particular weapon category. If everything was the same and all weapons equal, PlanetSide would be boring as hell if you ask me.

Hopefully some people at SOE realized a lot of the mistakes by tinkering with balance in EQ and have applied that wisdom to PS. Sure, it isn't the exact same genre of game, but tinkering with weapons is just like tinkering with class skills.

All it does is make them investigate the numbers, Im sure they are watching trends over time with the jackhammer ;)

I think its a good post, they are looking at the numbers and making decisions based on data instead of popular opinion.

I hope they stick to their guns (no pun intended) and do what is best for the game and not change the game due to the whims of the masses.

Most the time people can't handle the fact they got beat...so they have to blame a game mechanic.

Yeah, the biggest problem is people and realms are getting beat because of the number of players online at a given time. We have no way of knowing how many players are online for a given realm at a given time.
