View Full Version : Thumper targeting?

Thumper - A standard grenade launcher, the Thumper can lob grenades up to medium range. It utilizes a special Arc Targeting System that 'paints' a small impact circle on the soldiers HUD, representing roughly where the grenade will land.[/

I've recently discovered I have a liking for the Grief Launcher(Thumper). Now I may be acting a bit daft but... I've never seen this impact circle. Am I missing something? Or is this description off?

You were just introduced the the horrible documentation of Planetside. I don't think anything in the online manual or web site can be trusted.

Figures. Spent about seven hours today working on my accuracy, bombing various Terrans in Amerish. I'm getting pretty damned good at it(my kills have trippled since I retired the Pulsar), but when I came across this impact point bit I was beginning to think I was being left out. Here I've been using this no good reticule.

Hello,

Seven hours is nothing for a hardcore gamer! hee hee I played a MUD once for 72 hours straight. I got up to go to the bathroom and get calories. Other than that I was at my computer. I didn't sleep the entire time, and my eyes were swollen and bloodshot all the hell before the end. Mountain Dew was my friend, and I was on a mission to gain as many levels as I could.

Yep, those were the days! If I was hooked on a text based boring game like a MUD, there should be no surprise why folks like me love games like PS even more. If I didn't have a career and responsibilities, I could easily see at least a 24 hour marathon of PS happening.

It is pretty sad, huh?

You spent 72-hours straight, looking a text? Are you mad?

That is hardcore, Agathon.

Most I ever spent was 30 hours.

Retired the pulsar? Why? They just fixed it.It one of the most competitive weapons VS has now. And using any SW as a primary??? Thats just BOOOOOOOO!!!111

Anyhow... anybody every notice the projectile range is different in VR for the thumper?

Man, I so wish they implemented that HUD targeting with the thumper. Right now I use an infil spotter. If I know there's an AMS in the courtyard, I send an infil to spot, while I "thump" on the other side of the wall.

The PS manual isn't even fit for toilet paper. Too many paper-cuts. ow.

When I first got Half-Life and Half-Laif:Opposing force, I started playing Half-Life at 11AM. Finished it by 7PM. Then I started Opposing Force, and finished that at 3AM. Finally I started playing Starcraft and went to bed at 10AM the next day. That day I slept till 9PM. This is how I started my 3 day nocturnal habbits. I plan on breaking this record with Planetsid very soon.

My grades in college were a direct result of MUDding. I don't know that I've done 72 hours straight, but I guarantee I've come real stinking close. When you reached level 100 on my MUD they gave you the title of 'addict' which you wore like a badge of honor. When I had 5 addicts I realized there were some serious problems with me.

The good old MUD's used to live on the BBS's.
Talking about hard core gaming, 2 examples

1. Every 2 months I run a LAN at my place, starts Friday night ends Sunday afternoon, we have about 20-30 people with computers play games non-stop for the entire weekend.... hardcore ..Yes.

2. Even worse.... (as in OMg not on a computer!) we run 24hr Dungeons & Dragon sessions, no sleep, just pizza, caffeene and sugar to keep us going :D

Good to see that there are "addicts" all over the world, and not just here in Australia

D&D? urgh. Shadowrun whoops D&D's butt. my only gripe with shadowrun is the gimpy D6 system. I've found that backstory and atmosphere make up for that.

i hate the strictly D6 systems, love the DnD n/e dice goes sorta thing, espcially at really high levels, i almost always play at high levels now so rollin 50 d6 can take a while, although in the epic handbook there is a spell that does like 300 d6, that would take a long LOOONNNNNNGGGGGG time

Wasn't this supposed to be a Thumper Targeting thread? How did it get into MUDding and D&D?

Wait a minute! D&D???!?!?!!! What the hell!
