I exclusivly use trackballs. My desk is normally so cluttered that I have no room to move a mouse. :D Beside, it looks so cool. :D

With a subtle thumb movement, my character spins around 180 degrees. Its alaso helpfull when piloting any flying vehicles as that way you aren't constently lifting the mouse up to reposition it on the mouspad. In Short.....
Trackballs Rock!!

now that's just a question of options.

you could just tune in you mouse really fast.

there are tools for that (next to the option menus from games) if i remember it right...

classical mouse or atrackball, not a great difference

MS Intelimouse Explorer v3 optical... It's the best mouse I've ever used... And Trackballs have their place... I had a hard time playing FPS's with my trackball....

You show-off your balls to everyone who comes to your place?

Standard VPR Matrix PS/2 2-button scrollwheel optical mouse. And after using an optical I'm never going back to mechanical (ball mouse) again.

I use a standard Logitech optical mouse. I was looking at some trackballs but didn't like them.

Intresting... There should be a 'other' option...

I use the Intous 2 WACOM drawing tab (got a good deal on it for 300) It kills in FPSs, all I do is set my pen to quad click when it touches the pad so when ever I touch the pad it shoot my enemy 4 times =).

Opctial mouses pretty much own all others, I dont understand how ANYONE can use a trackball, its impossible and stupid as hell, it makes no sence to bring that kind of trouble upon people in FPSs

Anyone use that mouse with gyros in it for PSU? You know, the one that you can use in the air. I wonder how that would work in an FPS.

Optical Trackball. Its been great in any FPS i've played, especially for sniping when you need to pinpoint on something. Trouble is, the lag-nazi's molest me to the point where I overcorrect too much it seems. Leaving me open for random kidney punches.../sigh.

Hello,

I use an optical MS mouse with five buttons on an everglide.com X-Trac Pro HS Optical mouse pad. The combination rocks for FPS'ers. For those optical mouse users out there, get that pad for supreme accuracy and pinpoint targetting. I used to have problems pointing right at far away objects due to low precision, but the mouse pad solved it. Ever seen someone at a LAN party drawing circles on a piece of paper for an optical mouse pad? Well, the X-Trac does this for you, and it is a really well built pad.

For people who can get used to them, trackballs are awesome for FPS'ers actually. I've tried to switch on a couple occasions, but my hands have a natural tremble to them. It makes using such a sensitive mouse too jerky for me. They are too sensitive I guess, and I've never been able to train myself to use one. The people who do use them however usually love them. I have many FPS'er friends who swear by them, but the majority of people I know are using wired optical right now.

Wireless optical remains a problem for me. I tried the MS Wireless Intellimouse Explorer mouse, but it has a delay related to it. Basically, when you go to move the mouse, it almost acts like there is a wake-up time. There is a second of delay, and any delay makes using it for gaming impossible. I'm going to test out the Logitech mx700 wireless and see if it works any better. Does anyone have one? Is there any problem in the game delay wise?

I'll have to look into the utlities to speed up tracking though, for it seems PS limits it severely. It drives me nuts to have such a slow response time on turrets and such, but I guess they designed the game that way on purpose?

Oh yeah, my five buttons:

1- Fire
2- Alt fire
3- Surge Implant (wheel button)
5- Reload (left thumb button)
6- Transmit on TeamSpeak/PS Chat (right thumb button)

Scroll forward on the wheel zooms in the scope while looking with a weapon, and while on a map scrolling forwards and backwards zooms in and out.

Yes, having multiple buttons and a good mouse is a GOOD thing!
