I agree. You should hold off a bit more. Why? Well the game is at a point where it is awful repetitive. Right now it is basically:
Find zerg
Join zerg
Zerg base
Find another base to zerg
Repeat until you get bored and go play something else.
The next few patches will be critical in determining if they can make Planetside from a good idea, to a terrific game realizing it's full potential.
I have faith that Sony will put the time and effort into this game to make it great. They have been terrific in listening to the community. The big question is will enough of the players stick with it until then?

Or you can join a good outfit, pick a locked continent, and start breaking in and having small squad fights.
You don't HAVE to follow the zerg Kerosene, it is the best xp but xp is just a by-product, not the goal.

I know how to find smaller battles. The problem is finding big battles. I guess I just get frustrated watching two enemy zergs constantly attacking each other in a giant circle and never meeting to fight. With no incentive to defend, only a smaller amount of people do it. Sure there are people who try (including myself), but with no help, we get overrun by the zerg in minutes.
I guess it might just be me. I am a defensive minded person. The whole "just wait until they are gone and hack it back later" idea is just getting old.
I know the defensive incentive is in the works. I guess it is just a bigger issue for me and not as urgent for everyone else.

Buy it :)
Find zerg

You dont have to do that, I know my squad doesent.
Try going behind enemy lines or working ahead of the zerg sometime ;)
