View Full Version : Really feeling bad for people on other servers now

In the beginning, I was dreading that I picked emerald as my permanent server to play on. Constant lag and zone crashes.

Now, I see the lower populations on the other servers. For instance, I saw the european server had one blue dot which roughly represents 750 people.

That's gotta be some REALLY boring gameplay. Johari wasn't any better either, kinda feel bad for the folks on there. Are the big battles really too few and far between?

I think it's the release of SWG. that overhyped P.O.S. is stealing the show pretty much everywhere so far. give them time, they'll see how much it sucks then come back.

I unfortunately don't have any problem finding big battles on Johari. Since every patch makes my 56k cry a little more, I can't say that it makes me sad. At this point I have to avoid even mediumish battles like the plague and PS is getting on the verge of being unplayable altogether. It's a shame because I've enjoyed the game, but I can't see paying $13 a month plus $30 for DSL when this game is the only reason I'd need DSL. It's fun but it's not that fun.

Mad, yours is a technology limit. I pity any 56kers on this game.

valcron, whenever i go online Werner, the euro server has the highest levels of players. thats because im european [english] and when i got on is between 5-11pm [not all the time, obviously, but they are my general range of times] on weekdays and guess what, most amwericans are at school/work. and then when u come to play at similar times, it night time here - thats why. i have never seen werner being beated in pop except when i play at 7am here [about midnight in US] and obviously during beta [no werner].

aye ever heard of time zones valcron :p ;)

Weekday evenings and weekends we get around 3 -4 dots and occasionally a gold blob.

There are always battles to be fought, nad never a lack of action :) same on all teh servers, the busy times usually occur at different times

Yeah, I know it's a technology limit. My only real concern is that it didn't really exist the first few weeks. Every patch they make seems to hurt me on a 56k a bit more. A one on one firefight even has ceased to be a matter of the better player (I pity you if we go one on one and you lose, because I literally don't see the fight). Now that they've added that little "packet loss" box that pops up it's that much worse, too. Last night I was hacking a very hot tower and had somehow slipped past everybody to get to the cc. I'm halfway through the hack with advanced hacking and that box pops up telling me there's packet loss and that I'm not connected to the server (and may experience lag). When the box goes away, I'm still at the CC, the red light is still shooting out of my REK, but the hack isn't still working. The line doesn't even exist any more showing how far along the hack is. So now I'm exposed but not hacking, and should have easily finished the hack a few seconds before. I got torched by the next guy that walked past, of course. They'll put in a new patch soon and I'm expecting it to literally be unplayable for me at that point. C'est la vie, I had fun while it lasted.

There are still huge fights on Johari but there are few of them, typically 2 at once most of the time.

But during lunch today I found large fights vs the VS and TR on hossin readily.

My 56K has actually been fairly consistent, and actually got a bit better a week or so ago. Might be funkiness with your ISP, Madcow.

The game is surprisingly playable in smaller battles with a 56K.

I was playing on a 56k modem for a bit and I didn't find the mediumish battles bad.

I know not everyone has access to high speed internet, but once you get it, there's no going back to 56K. Even if I didn't play games I'd still pay for my DSL. Plus Verizon just dropped their rates and I'm paying $10 less a month now which is great. Almost makes up for the $12.99 I'm paying for PS now.
