That was on the History Channel a while back....
Supposed to be the most vicious deployable weapon ever. Think of how they're supposed to keep that thing cooled.

True, it could blow a nice path through a minefield.
Of course, if they are those new self-aware hopping / self-healing minfields, they might have to blow a path several times

2 problems with that thing I think they forgot.
1. How will they control the heat so it does not burn up
2. How the hell are they going to stop the barrel from warping due to heat.
Cool idea though :)

Millions of dollars of money spent on research, what a waste. Just consult PR24

You might want to consult the website of the manufacter and see how it works. Baiscally it has the bullets lined up behind one another in the barrel. Then has multiple barrels firing at the same time.

Yeah, I seriously doubt that they got to the point of speaking with the Pentagon without already having a plan of how to control such an obvious problem as the heat.

Furthermore, IIRC (it has been about a year since I first saw the video in email) the barrels are preloaded with ordinance and disposable.
Personally, I'd rather have a grenade launcher that fires 600 rpm than a machine gun that fires 1,000,000 rpm. Anchored TR Pounder MAX, eat your heart out.
