I would look at www.platronics.com
That's where I'm getting my mic. They do mostly stuff for telemarketing, so they have good-quality mics.
Even though this goes about 13 bucks over your price range, this is the mic I'm looking at: http://store.yahoo.com/founderstelecom/aud90sterpch.html

pic from these, they should all be good, i have one of them. i'm not sure wich one i've got, but just get a stereo one that you like, i've heard people say that they break down on them after about a year of usage, but mine has been fine after months of daily use, so i suggest them

I use the Platronic 90 with no problems.
I haven't used the voice chat in game in a while. It was decent the last I checked, but nothing great. We use teamspeak for chat.

Wouldn't have figured you'd need a pic, but to each his own :)
To actually answer your question, I use a ten dollar mic from WalMart.

Thanks for the tip. I don't usually root around Newegg for deals, it's like shopping at a thrift store looking for a Armani suit.

I use a cheep 20 mic from the Office Depot. Awesome audio quality for the price.
As for voice comms, I still use teamspeak 2. Over the in game voice comms. The audio codec is much MUCH better.
