VS question

On emerald, I see a high number of VS players using the sniper rifle. With the ability to use a lancer and its versatility, what value to do you think is added by the use of a sniper rifle versus the lancer? Also in the present state of the game, how much value do you think a "sniper" actually brings to the battle. I know I have seen battles on emerald where the VS outnumbers the other side dramatically, but yet fails to "charge in" to take the objective. Instead of charging, we seem to be happy sniping the foolish targets that seem to wonder off from their happy cover. I'm not saying that if you are a sniper that, you suck...I just wanted to hear some different perspectives.

Sniper rifle as compared to Lancer? That's an easy one, when you fire the sniper rifle, it actually fires while the target is where you are aiming, as compared to a second later when the target may have moved.

I think the lack of "final push" you are seeing is based on our weapons. Our weapons are best at medium to long range, and our CQB weapon, the Lasher, has a reputation of being less than the comparitives in other empires. That leads to a lack of Lasher users, and without Heavy Weapons users, it is very very hard to mount the endgame of a base assault. You'll probably see this change rather quickly when the Lasher boost takes effect.

lancer compared to sniper rifle for sniping? there's no question, the bolt driver is better. lancer's CoF never totally closes like the bolt driver's, so at any range outside of assault gun usefulness you're gonna go through an entire box or more of HUGE ASS anti-vehicle ammo to even try to kill one infantry. bolt driver does more damage to infantry, with much more ammo per small box, as well as having more inherant zoom capability. I think the bolt driver's shot is faster too, though I've never checked. kinda hard to run that test scientifically ya know?

lancer can just do a half-assed job of sniping infantry and a half assed job of sniping vehicles.
