View Full Version : What System are you playing with?
I'd like to start a thread for the people who play Planetside to post what their PC systems are (RAM, Processor, Video Card, etc), what level of graphic detail they have turned on in the game, and how well the game runs for them. This will provide a comparision page for people looking to play Planetside and trying to figure out whether they can run the game ok without having to read through a bunch of different threads throughout the forums. We all know that the specs on the game box usually aren't good enough. Thanks to all those who post and help out!

CPU: 1200 MHZ
Memory: 768 DDR RAM
Video Card: ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
Game worked great with that equipment.

RAM: 1Gb DDR pc2700 (Going to be getting paired up 3200DDR's for 400Mhz FSB)
Video Card: Albatron GeForce4TI-4200 128MB DDR RAM
I run mine with medium settings and it runs smoothly. Haven't tried to to run it at higher resolutions (just put the extra 512Mb in). I'm never one for eye candy though. If it prevents lag, then it works for me.

PCTorque is cheaper and the guy that runs it also runs sagerforums.com which is a GREAT spot for support and all. Seems like all the people that are followers of these laptops buy from PCTorque. :) They are also cheaper.

Hello,
See my signature. If I lower my settings to "low" I get 164 FPS, and I get about 30-45 with settings on "high." Lately, I have been playing with medium, and even in decent sized fights I get 60-80 FPS.

i run that game FULL AA and i let the application decide the AF (before allowing application to decide i clicked it on 16x though so maybe it automatically chooses that... i dunno)
sometimes the game can lag a lil whether there is big battles or not.... i think i might bring my AF down but i definatly want the AA on max at all times.... cant stand how jagged the game can look sometimes.
all i can say is it was definatly faster running (and crappier looking) when i left the AA and AF on application decides.

It just depends on how good you are at custom case cooling. I would put my cooling up against Alienware's new insane looking cooling system anytime. Also the BEST cooled systems are always custom systems and not pre-built, atleast in the desktop arena.

depends on what your comuter and your budjet allow for. if possible you should try 400 because it is faster.though the speed difference isnt huge.

Oh dear.. need some upgrade to my pc.
P4 1.4 ghz pga478
512Mb PC2100 sdram
Geforce2Ti 64Mb
fast DSL
I have all the settings to low. I do get a nice FPS when in the Sanctuary or alone (80fps) but it drops to 25-30Fps in bases wiht 4-5 enemies and vehicles and drops to 5FPS in spawn tubes when the hordes are coming out lol.
Unfortunately I can't find a P4 2.0 ghz (my motherboard can support only up to 2.0) as they are old.. shops only keep new stuff
Will another 512Mb ram AND an ATI radeon 9600pro increase game performance?
Thanks for comments and replys :)

Here's mine, (it's not to go but soon to be better)
Celeron 2.4 ghz 400mhz FSB operating at 2.5 (soon to be a p4 2.6 or 2.4 at 800mhz FSB)
one stick of cl3 512 ddr400 ram (soo to be 2 sticks of cl2 512)
Asus P4P800 deluxe mobo (has all the features i could ever dream off including raid 0)
Asus Geforce FX 5600 356 mb card with a ThermalTake Gaint 2 heatsink, overclocked (this card owns nomatter what people say)
7200rpm 40 gb hard drive, 9forgot the brand but i think it has an 8mb cashe)
A DVD-Rom of some sort
Crapy ass 17 inch CRT monitor
AltecLansing (210?) speakers and subwolfer
I get decent FPS with this machine, never lower then 15 unless it as a Truly huge battle or i'm flying around on my basil in a populated area. It suffers from no DDR as i have only one stick, and the 400 mhz FSB that the celeron has, but i had no choice at the time i purchesed the parts, but in a few weeks to a month i should have those probs fixed
