Damn those things were improved, eh? they completely rape outside now and u can nail a few zerging kills indoors. So anyone have a good way around them? i was gettin sniped by them at one point and even tho i was shooting this guy for a minute with a gauss, he still turned and ripped me apart with chaingun from a very long distance. So how should one take on these mad gunners?

If you're referring to the Mini-Chaingun, it has not received any changes yet.

You must be talking about another Chaingun. They still suck!

Are the new changes not supposed to go live today?

*edit*
Oh yeah if they haven't gone live yet it could have been a cycler or a combination of weapons. If the changes haven't gone live yet I can assure you it wasn't a MCG though. It's COF currently opens up way too fast to be of any use at long ranges.

I don't know. It's possible, but regardless they're not in-game yet. I think MJ just found a really, really skilled Terran. ;)

there were like 10 of them using them quite effectively...if they can be used that well they shouldnt recieve any changes

Either the changes went live or it wasn't a MCG. If you had a Gauss from a distance then you would have shredded somebody with a normal MCG.

Hmmmm, peculiar. oh well, like i have said before, the point of balance is to pander to the people who play the game. If a majority of people who play can't get the MCG to work for them, then it might need a boost, even if certain individuals can use it quite effectivly.

I doubt the changes are going in today, they have their plate full with some kind of stability issues

Hehehe, wow people are starting the very first complaintsbefore the thing has gone live yet, that way the nerf calls will come in 10 seconds later. (if this was OF then the first 50 posts would be OMG!!!! NERF IT!!!!!)

I think they seem better because some people have discovered how to make them extremely effective. I saw this a couple nights ago on emerald when a sqaud or two of TR came into a base all wielding mini chainguns. Completely shredded my non max squadmates and put a hack on the base. But they were merely fodder for my Quasar Max  It got kind of annoying after a while because I was forced to constantly move between the tubes and the CC killing them off. They were relentless mofo's

Hello,

Yep, I'm sure they were all:

1. Using them because they suck.

2. Getting tons of kills because they suck.

Yep, the weapon needs improvements damn it, NOW NOW NOW! <chuckle> I went heavy weapons to test some things out, and frankly the two weapons are about equal for me. Both the jackhammer and the MCG rape people at close distance, and both are very limited at medium to long range. Sure, the cone opens up more on the MCG at medium range, but the jackhammer's cone doesn't need to open up because the weapon is already spraying people since it is a shotgun blast. I do register hits with the jackhammer at medium range, but it takes about 8 registered hits to get people. A gauss seems far more effective in such a situation.

I know a lot of people have strong opinions about this, but personally I have not seen much difference between the two. People on both sides simply complain too much, and the weapons are both great when used effectively by skilled people. You just have to know how and when to use them. I'm not going to pull out a jackhammer in an open field battle at medium ranges, and people using MCG's shouldn't either. They will rightfully switch to their cyclers--as I have seen people already doing.

It is a shame that SOE is messing with balance issues at all when we have so many stability issues. I'm getting sick and tired of having to reset my window sizes and placements, falling in deep pits out in fields, not being able to get out of a spawn tube, not being able to read my text because the scroll windows are broken, crashing to the desktop, locking up entirely, etc.

If people only fought as hard and with as much effort as they do for nerfs and weapon improvements to get bugs fixed, this game would have been in a lot better condition right now perhaps!
