Hi, I'm a casual gamer and am thinking of buying planetside, but before I do, just thought I should ask these questions.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Is Planetside one of those games where you have to run around for 45 minutes to find some enemies? (I found this was the case in DAoC, not all the time but some) or is it non-stop action?

How many players usually on?
Are the battlezones too big? players too spread out action hard to find etc?

That's all I can think of for now. Hopefully I see some of ya out on the battlefield.

Thanks for your help.

No, action is easy to find, just check your map for hotspots, and drop right into battle.

There have only been rare occasions when I haven't been able to find hotspots, and on those occasions, I just went and picked a fight. That activates a hotspot, and the little fight got big in a hurry :)

No, action is very easy to find in game. Even more so if you join a good outfit. If for some reason you cant find action on the map (hotspots) just make a squad and stir up some trouble on a predominantly enemy controlled continent... slow at first, but once they find out what is happening they'll come to you. If there is absolutely no fighting chances are it is 4am in your timezone;).

I played DAOC also and I can tell you PlanetSide is a lot easier to find action, and much less demanding on character level or stats. Several features such as the HART (transport that takes you wherever you want every 10 mins), and Instant Action allow for easy ways to find the battles. That being said a casual gamer will find PlanetSide to be a much more evenly distributed playing field than something like DAOC where it is almost entirely dependany on character level. In regards to your other question about whether people are spread out too much, generally this is not the case because the battles taking place are to capture/defend a certain base or tower. Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot

I hated running around looking for action on DAoC, but sounds like this is not the case on Planetside.

Level thing helps too, Alle, lvling to 50 was a pain in the after first char.

Guess I'll buy it tomorrow.

Can u guys recommend a good outfit/empire/server?

Thanks for help.

Look forward to fighting with ya or killing ya on the battlefield.

Empires are all good... just depends on colour prefferance:p. As far as outfits go try the ones that are hosted here. And as far as servers go. Emerald and Markov provide the larger fights, only play on these if you have a solid comp and 1meg connection. Johari is only for those that like the tactical fights... usually comes down to 5 on 5 in most capture scenarios. I honestly like a small fight like that everyonce in a while... I actually get more kills when it comes down to reaction time and not so much luck like it does in the larger fields. In the fields its all, "hope that max or tank doesn't pick me." Konried is inbetween Johari and Emerald. (Konried is my fav... however I spend more time on Emerald). The Werner is really a EU only server... unless you don't mind pings of like 370 at some points.

Sorry if post is grammatically incorrect... tired and all...

I'm thinking about buying Planetside as well. What's currently the cheapest place to buy it? I don't want to fork out a big wad of cash up front only to not like the game afterwards. I asked SOE if I could buy a used game and use that, and they said no.

Hell if anything there's too much action. You'll need at least 512 RAM to handle the fights during prime hours. Trust me, you won't be bored.
