View Full Version : EXP for Sabotage, ways to get Sabotage Engineers to be used more

Let's admit it, CEs are almost never used, and in this game, people just run in with guns blazing, there's never much sabotage going on. I suggest that destroying enemy equipment give some EXP. More for some than others. Cert and Implant Terminals at Bio Labs, nobody uses those, so almost nothing. But things like generators are worth a great deal.
I'd like to start an outfit designed with sabotage in mind. We form a squad of about 5 people, pick a random enemy base and trash stuff. Blow up the generator, turrets, etc. But this is impossible, because nobody wants to do special operations like that unless there's good EXP in it. I propose a generator is worth 2000-2500 exp each, equipment terms 40 each, vehicle terms 30 each, tubes are based on if enemies are coming through them. No enemies is 20 each, some is 100, tons and tons is 500.
This adds more to the game than spawn, kill, die, respawn, oh we hacked the base?, kill, die, respawn, TOH?, kill kill. Instead we have the chance for "Okay, SL, ACEs are at the generator, proceed to next base? By the way, how many more do you want before I should take the galaxy to the extraction point?"

While these ideas are great in theory, nobody bothers to think about the obvious exploits. You're NC, you get a friend in TR with engineering to run around with you healing all of the terminals you blow. You blow them all again, they repair them all again. Endless xp with absolutely no risk. There's no way to put something like that in the game. Feel free to do things like that for kicks (I do), but don't expect xp out of it.

Now people are just going to storm a base, and then blow everything in it to hell. How can you tell people to NOT blow the gen when they could get 2000 XP for it? It'll make base caps even more of a nightmare as people who want the base to survive once they cap fight the people who just want XP.
I agree with the people who have said that XP should never be a motiviation or a attitude shaper. Eventually, most everyone will be BR20 and getting XP will be less important than sanc locks or just kicking the enemy out of your backyard.

It is sad... people actually get bored and don't have fun in a nearby battle because its just outside of the SOI. They become XP whores. But except for really low battle ranks, there really isn't a big reason to buff your guys. I can use 3 certs for an AI max and fight just as effectively as a BR20CR5 in an AI max (except for implants which are for the most part not that big a deal).
You bought the game to have fun, and yet you sacrifice fun for the sake of character buffing. I'm a tick away from BR16, so I think I can say that I have plenty of certs to spend and make plenty of XP just playing the game and helping for the sake of my empires glory and eventual victory than sitting on my hands TKing because I'm bored at a base thats being capped. ;)
As such, if destroying enemy equipment is beneficial to the empire and fun for you... DO IT. You shouldn't have to get an XP scooby snack to force you into doing this (its not a boring ANT run). And as said, you'd just have everyone tearing a base apart rather than just capping it and enjoying the protection of the turrets, spawn tubes, and terminals.

I'm BR15 now, and I've not gave a shat about EXP for the last two battle ranks. I'm a CE, and I love my job. I find it much more satisfying to sneak into a base carrying 12 ACEs and breaking all of it's terminals at once with one big blast to the generator much more satisfying than sitting on my ass for 15 minutes while a hack goes through. Not all hope is lost, there are still those of us out there who blow shit up not for the EXP, but for the fun of it. :)
