View Full Version : Got ANTs?

Once the towers start needing NTUs as well as the bases, ANT runs are going to become even more critical for the success of defenders and attackers alike. Successful ANT runners are a breed apart. It takes skill and lots of luck to get a slow moving and weak armored ANT from the base to the gate and back again. All the while dodging enemy aircraft, missiles and roving enemy troops behind the lines.
Getting into a hot base with a load of NTUs is very exciting and your teammates will love you for it. Expecially when you save a hack or the NTU levels been setting at 10% for awhile and everyones about lost hope of hanging on. Unless hot dropping from a Galaxy there's really no trick other than foot to the pedal and weave like a drunken sailor praying you don't take too much damage before you get there.
I recommend anyone making an ANT run without the aid of a Galaxy don't leave home without a repair gun if you have the appropriate enginnering cert. I always pack one with a recharge. I'm often travelling in hot areas with enemy activity or I'm bouncing around over rough terrain and it's nice to be able to fix my ride during the trip.
When making ANT runs I try to stay off the roads as much as I can. There are lots of back trails through woods and between hills that are much safer. The long way around is actually quicker than dodging enemy fire. The ANT may be slow, but it is one of the most maneuverable vehicles in the game. It'll go where other vehicles may get stuck.
Knowing the terrain can be crucial. I can sometimes use the warpgates closer to the enemy simply because of the routes I have discovered over time.
Once you get to a warpgate, hide on the side furthest from the enemy while you load up on NTUs. Anyone spotting you within the gate will simply try to ambush you as you leave if they see you sitting in there.
I actually enjoy making the occasional ANT run. When I was lower level it was a good way to earn BEP as long as you were solo. If you manage to transfer a whole load of NTUs it's worth at least 1,000 BEP or more. Maybe someone knows the actual amount. I've never actually counted it out, but it adds up fast.

ANTs can climb damn near ANYTHING. yes they'll slow to a crawl, but anything short of a vertical wall and you can chug your way over it.
unless you've driven an ANT I guarantee you will be amazed by what they can climb.

he he my friend in my outfit and i are having a competition to see who can make the most incredible ant runs and save a hack. So far its 1 to 1, but today he flipped his ant making a crucial ant run, but we were ok cuz we had a backup.
personally i love ant runs, and i thin there should be a Nanite gathering certification. with like a fast moving ant motorcyle/ATV thing, which can hold maybe half as much as the ANT. and perhaps even a very slow moving, hard to maneuver ANT aircraft, thats main perk is it holds twice as much as an ANT, and has lots of amror. i know i'd pick this cert up.

An ANT aircraft? nice idea, me likey
I hate it whenever you make an ant run to a base and when you get there you see 3 friendly ants going to do the same thing you plan to do.

I hate it when people blow up full ants that the enemy is bringing to you. PS has this neat little thing called HACKERS.

Had a bad experience with an ANT and a tking mofo the other day on Werner.
the base we were hacking was on 10% before I got to the vehi pad and got an ANT. Well I high tailed it out of the base to the bubble, filled up then came back.
Well I pulled into the base, got out activated my ANT to charge the base and WHAM. this muppet in an ANT at full speed runs me over (it was blatant as he crashed into the wall I was by as he was unable to stop after he killed me :( he then stops my ant transfer, and starts his own.
Talk about a petty mofo.
HE goa bit of loving from my knife which I am not proud of but I was fuming. I don't care about the XP, but the fact he did it riled me somewhat bad.
Anyway, ANTS are pretty slow :D and easy pickings - which makes it fun and tense at the same time :)

ANT aircraft. Holds enought o refill a base 30-50%, candles like a Lib but with afterburners and a top non afterburner speed of 80 armor at about the level of a reaver give or take. Make it cost 2 or 3 certs and I'd pick it up as soon as I could.

We had just drained a base, refilled it, and started a hack. We're hanging around guarding the base when a friendly starts blowing up the generator and every term they could find. When we finally got him to stop, we found out why he did it. He wanted to drain the base some more so he could use his ANT.
A fun thing to do if you're an infil/adv hacker: Sneak into a base that is being fought over by the other two factions. Wait for an ANT to drive up and deploy. Kill the driver, hack the vehicle, and get the exp for refilling the emeny silo.

I can top both of those. getting killed by a 'team mate' then having your oh-so-conveniently empire accessible ANT taken from you and deployed by someone that's never driven an ANT in their life.

Here's one way to ruin an ANT drivers day and spoil an enemy hack all at once.
Sneak into a neutral base setting at 0% power that has just been hacked. Make sure you're packing a Decimator or some other anti-vehicle weapon. Get into one of the stairways near the silo and just hang there until you here the ANT coming. As soon as he is close, run out on the balcony and destroy the ANT before he can deploy.
Takes some patience and luck, but satisfying.

An improvement on your method: Be a cloaker. stand next to 0% base's silo. Wait for ANT, cloaked. When ANT comes, position self for kill. When driver gets out, proceed with kill. Hack ANT. Drive ANT around courtyard trying to kill as many enemies as possible by running them over.
there is an ant aircraft...its called a Galexy (Ant not included) hehe

Ah, but Galaxies are hard to come by in the middle of a heavy siege when NTU levels are rapidly dropping from the idiots who spawn at the base and not the AMS in the courtyard.

O.O another story about an ant mofo...
I just escorted an outfitmate on an antrun, we sat back and were watching the exp rise. Then all of the sudden it stopped.
SOME MOFO "friendly" somehow managed to get in an locked ant, therefore fojacking our xp.
My outfit mate then informed us that he got a tell saying somethings along the line of
"ha ha thx for the xp loser"
about this time he hopped out of the ant.
And was promptly blown to shit by meh.
"ha ha enjoy the greif points bitch"
oh no i got 5 greif for killing his mofo stupid ass.
After that we all took turns hunting his stupid ass down and shoving various guns up his ass and pulling the trigger
All the while getting more comments from his fucktard face.
GODDAMN PRICKS!!!!!!!!!
people like this son of a bitch deserved to be pwned by a beamer

When I drive an ANT or any other vehicle, I make sure my weapon is drawn before entering the vehicle. This way you automatically draw it back out when you get out of the vehicle. No need to manually do it. Saves some precious seconds in case enemy infiltrator is hanging around.
I'm also getting a little tired of the freindlies trying to steal my BEP by undeploying and redeploying my ANT when I'm not looking. I'm having to guard my ANT as much from freindlies as I am from the enemy.
The same goes for my AMS. I hate dying and then forgetting to relock the AMS. Some ass always manages to undeploy it and drive off with it if I'm not careful. I wish it would stay locked while I'm respawning. I never touch another persons vehicle unless I'm repairing it or I've been invited.
