Ok I currently have a gig of ram but my video card is only 32mb. Anyways if I were to upgrade it would I see a significant increase in the games performance besides the graphics looking better?

You should see a very large increase in Frames Per Second. I never changed video cards while playing PlanetSide however in simple benchmarking programs with one older card I can get about 100 FPS whereas with my Radeon 9700 I get about 170. Also as you mentioned you will see an increase in visual quality as well as speed.

ok I have another question. Is it possible to fry anything by getting a good video card? I used to have a radeon 9200 pro but I think I fried that only with everything else when I got the wrong ram. anyways i'm thinking of getting a radeon 9600 pro now and i'm just wondering if there is any risk of breaking my computer
