Pinnacle of games

Games like HalfLife2 and Doom3 make me think, what will happen to games once they look completley real? When graphics get soo good its impossible to tell it apart from reality. When things move and react completley realistically and everything is interactive, what next? Virtual lives? 4d games? The Matrix?

please, post your thoughts on what would happen.

When games look photorealistic, game developers may generally start to focus on gameplay again.

once games progress that far, they will go back and make 2d side scrollers and they will sell like hotcakes

I think a number of compaines will crumble. Pretty graphics are a lot easier to create than a game that plays smoothly, has a huge plot and is insanely detailed.

:ugh: problem is... if your brain thinks its real and you get so much in the game... then you suddenly get killed by something... your brain might think it's real and shut off eh...

But yea they will focus on gameplay I guess... But when the AI will act like humans would or wild animals would I wil be scared :scared:

i can't wait untill they get all advanced with game and then they take up a shitload of Hdd space, cuz then they will start putting them out on dvd's instead of 59999 cd's!!! that will be the day. i hate multiple cd installs
