I need RPG help.

I've got a hankering for a RPG.

I have an XBOX and of course a PC.

I need a good RPG, with a good story, and good combat.

I'd buy SWG, but I don't want to. I'm not ready to pay for another game (especially that one...6mo's from now and I'll be considering it.)

I don't like wizards and magic spells too much.

I don't want something that's a time hog, I just want something to play when I'm not playing PS.

I'll take a good game on either platform. Help me out guys!

For PC I'd recommend Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind. It has magic and stuff, but you don't need to use it much, unless you want to. Morrowind isn't online, sadly, but that game is ****ing awesome. You could also get that collectors edition for XBox, it has Morrowind and the expansions, but you don't get the added bonus of plugins (mods). Mods are still being made for it and it has a strong following. If not that, hmm... I dunno. If you're good with electronics, you could probably buy a Final Fantasy game and illegally port it to your PC or XBox, I dunno.

Try Planescape: Torment, it's a single player only RPG that runs on the Infinity engine ala BG. It has magic and stuff, but if you want an RPG with a great story set in a great, unique universe, you would be shooting yourself in the foot if you missed it.

Then, if you don't mind D&D base, Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale series are great, and then Neverwinter Nights.

FFVII for PC, but who hasn't played that?
Fallout Tactics is good, but not near as RPGish as the first two.
Black and White (Kind of an RPG/strategy mix where you're a god. Lower case, like Dio.)
Homeworld (Again, mix. But this is space with full 3D movement, the map is a sphere, and I don't know if it actually has a boundry. Just started playing it again a few days ago.)
One I haven't even heard anything of yet but I wanted to check it out was Freelancer, but I really don't know about that one, I need to get a demo.
And that's all I can think about after being up for thirty-six hours and brooding about the long day ahead of me.

I really liked Arcanum, the setting of the game was great. That is probably my favorite, but the whole Baldurs Gate series rules too.

Yes, Rurouni Kenshin is the best anime created IMHO, I have now seen all 95 episdoes of the series, the 4 prequel episodes that make up the first OVA and the last 2 episodes the make up the last OVA and the end of Rurouni Kenshin.....its such a sad ending :( :( :( :(

I wish they made more episodes of Kenshin cause theres 15 years between the series and the OVA so theres room for more, plus the last OVA was made without the consent of the dude who invented Kenshin and made the first OVA and series, cause SONY are bastards and took over and they also don't fish my bugs in PS.

Anyways I'm really sad there is no mroe Kenshin....I enjoy seeyign the old episodes but still....

Other anime ain't as good now that I have seen Kenshin and tis amazing story

saying u want an RPG but dont like wizards and shit narrows it down a lot. the final fantasies [7-9 i believe... maybe not 9] are released on PC, and FF3 is possibly the best of them all, and u can get it as a ROM for a snes emulator.

yeah a long time ago i watched a good bit of it at my friends house... but now i cant remember it at all..

It's released on the 16th iirc.... I have an xbox... but its just kinda collecting dust.... might have to start using it again for kotor though... :)

Ok first off anyone that says Dungeon siege need tog get his balls cuts off that game is one huge piece of crap.

Second I strongly recommend arcanum, alot of fun :D it's tough to find but it's worth it.

NeverWinter as endless possibilities thanks to online servers and player built world. I strongly recommend it.

Baldurs gate and the such are classics cant forget about them :D

Morrowind = uber

You have a big variety on pc... but if ya wanna try something... try Prince of Qin or something like that some friends told me it's pretty good and with less magic then other rpg's.

Well, there are NO good rpgs on xbox, the Morrowind 3 seriously sucks hardcore, its the most unfun game Ive ever played.

sheesh, thats so wrong its not even funny. Morrowind was and still is really good.. and one of the best things about it is the editor.

I dunno, the bit of Morrowind I played didn't catch my eye very much. It felt like a huge world that didn't have anything in it.

Anyway. If you have an XBox and a hankerin' for Star Wars wait a few weeks and get Knights of the Old Republic. If half the things people are saying about that game are true, it will take shorts and own them violently.

Planescape is good shit too, though it doesn't work as great on XP as it does on older platforms. :(

I agree! The Baldurs Gate series is AMAZING! BG2 was a lot better than the first because had had a lot more serious fighting.

if you end up liking the Baldurs gate series you might love icewind dale. I beat the first one and I'm gonna go buy the second. Its cool because in this one you make your entire party! its completely customizable.

Morrowind was alright for the first 4 or 5 hours then it got boring. It's like someone else said, a huge world with nothing in it. Mix morrowind with the content of BG series, IWD, NWN and you're all set. I'd rather fight 2 or 3 mobs at once than 1 every 15, 20mins.

I'm sure it's a great game once you get into it, but it doesn't grab you by the balls and say "This game is amazing, play it"...it taps you on the shoulder and says "Please, give me a chance...*sniffle*"

PS - Final Fantasy anything is good to pass the time. 4 (second best of the series) 5, and 6 (best!) can be downloaded as roms if you have an emulator and don't feel too bad about stealing games that are 15 years old, lol. DON'T TRY EVERQUEST! EVER!
