what with doom3, HL2 and deus ex2 all coming out within the next 6 months [correct me if im wrong] ati and nvidia are going to release some super mega cards arent they?> well, thats what i heared. in that cas,e i'll wait til lthey come out and see how much i can pick a gf-fx ultra 5900 256 for, or 9800pro.. whatever, the price of current ones is sure to drop, so ill hang on for a bit, with my dodgy old gf4 mx440 128mb. what you guys think?
Unless I'm mistaken, the last revision of the R300 graphics core is due out in a month or so (AKA the 9900) with the R400 smacking us in the rear in November. Haven't heard what Nvidia is planning yet.

actually the current video cards out are way ahead of the current games. I think some of those games MAY push the 128mb vid cards, but if you have a really good video card i wouldnt worry.

I think whatever Sierra is using to render it's videos of HL2 will be fine.

My friends dad has his own comp business and he orders a lot of radeons. He is getting a test card from radeon that is 512mb card. Can't wait to see the thing in action. He said it is in the mail. I am pretty sure he isn't joking but not for sure

nah man, there's no way the cards are *ahead* of the curve.
No pc I've seen can run ut 2003 max res, max detail, 8X AA 8XAF
they've still got plently of room for improvement. If you want to buy a card for that game, but it just before the game comes out. That way you'll be able to see all the cards availible and make you choice then. There's going to be new cards between here and there meaning that A) there's more performance coming B) the card's ure looking at now will get cheaper.
Just sit tight is my advice :)
