I think it's borderline overpowered, but not overpowered. What I think makes it borderline is it's new ability to kill MAX suits quicker than before, which was still mighty quick I might add. I don't mind it being the new indoor killing king of whine threads, just more thumper/rocklet meat for me, but c'mon, a hall way of lashing blue orbs of MAX suit death (I believe < 20 shots = dead MAX)? I hope it doesn't go live like this.
What are your thoughts?

23 shots= dead max. I have tested this.
20 shots will strip all its armor off then 3 shots for health.

Hmm, and how does that compare to the other HA weapons vs Maxes? I never tested it when I was HA. I know it takes 100 AP rounds from a Cycler to drop a Max(2 clips).

I knwo for a fact that it takes much longer with other weapons:
1. You have to swap to AP ammo which takes the reload time
2. Not as much damage, it took me over 20 shots with the Jackhammer...actually it may have been around 30 on primary fire mode

At the new rate the lasher can shoot at (blah blah one extra orb I know, but it adds up), I think the damage vs. MAX and armor should be proportionally decreased.

Anyway, on the subject of the lasher, i believe it may be abit overpowered. I am fine with the old rate of fire, i just want faster projectiles (ones that cant be dodged so easily). But the one thing i'm happy with is the fact that they reimplemented the lash, and that the lash does more damage now (10-15 indirect lashes to kill a reinforced)

obviously they didnt make it faster projectile for a reason, its a spray gun, just like AT NC MAX..just shoot in the general direction...do u know how bad accurracy is while running back and forth?

Before the change, it was 7.667 sec + 3 seconds for reload (? - not 100% positive on the 3 second reload time...its in that range) = 10.667 seconds to kill a max. Now, its 5.75 sec + 3 seconds for reload = 8.75 seconds to kill a max. It now takes 82% of what it use to take to kill a max. 8.75 seconds is in eternity in PS. I think the worse part is that we will be blowing through a clip every 5 seconds =P. Last I checked with the JH, it was just over one AP clip to tear through a max as well (18-ish shots at point blank). And I also believe that the previous poster is correct, its two clips from a cycler with AP ammo, a.k.a. medium assault. You don�t see many cycler kills because umm�we have all hear of the striker, no? Heh if someone is gonna dance around a max for 8.75 seconds and hit them with 23 shots, not only does he deserve to loot your med kits, you should send him a tell asking for lessions =P.
The VS community wanted faster projectiles, so they could hit what they shoot at without watching them dodge too frequently. The lasher already rocks at hitting non-moving or very slow moving targets at distance. The VS community got more shots per second, so more projectiles should be harder to dodge. So now they have harder projectiles to dodge and 33% more damage over time! I�ll pull no punches, its gonna hurt. If you meet up with a coordinated lasher squad inside a building, surge and run the other way.

From my observations on the test server: JH > Lasher in a duel. 2 Lashers > small squad. Now the above results of course didn't happen 100% of the time, but I'd be safe to say mostly. BTW, for the plainly inevitable counter-attacks I'm going to get, don't forget to include human unpredictability/inconsistencies into your BS arguments :).

Nerf the lasher, wtf are Soe thinking. Did they upgrade the MCG?
That damn lasher killed me more than anything. It will take down a skeeter in 3 shots. If they upgraded the MCG then I won't complain, but if TR is getting left out I'm jumping ship. I don't know why the SOE ppl hate TR so much but they do.

You got killed with a lasher in a mosq in 3 shots? That is a flat out lie. You cannot kill a normal infantry in 3 shots with a lasher.
Now if you are talking about the LANCER, that is also a lie. It takes at least a full 6 shots to take a mosq with the lancer. Lancer is AV, Lasher is Hvy Assault.
Friggin TR noobs...
Try flying against TR, Strikers > all other weapons for anti air.

That last comment was uncalled for. Can you name all of the weapons in the game? I knwo for a fact aht at least 70% of the population can't name most of the weapons except for their empire specific ones. We never get to use your weapons so we never learn the names of them. So, STFU.

I would be completely shocked if 95% of the population hasn�t tried all of the weapons, maxes, and vehicles in PS (at least in VR). If you haven�t, I would certainly recommend it. Not only is it a blast, but spending a few days getting familiar with the enemy�s gear will show you how to best use your own gear to your advantage. If you �think� a weapon is overpowered, go use it for a few days, find out how it really works, and use that information to defeat it. The sad part is the overpowered weapons are very boring to use�a.k.a. jackhammer, striker, magrider�well running over people never gets old�that death moan just cracks me up.

Okay you are threatening to jump ship because you believe TR are weak? Do you even use the MCG? Have you even been keeping up on the changes their making to it? Can you look at any other advantages your empire has rather then concentrating on these percieved flaws? Jump ship whatever that means, have a nice day.

I use the Jackhammer, and the Lasher is harder, but not impossible to beat. People don't realize it's a close range weapon, especially not Barney McGee who tried to take me on at fifty meters (the results were not good for him :) ).

I agree. Nerf the lasher.
I mean, sure, we haven't seen it on live servers yet and we have no idea how it will effect gameplay, but that seems irrelevant when compared to my snap decisions with no basis in reality.
While we're on the subject, the lasher is widely considered the weakest HA weapon, and because of this I think it needs to be nerfed more. Some NC newbs may not fully understand how ridiculously overpowered the jackhammer they wield is, and thus may mistakenly loot and use a lasher. This might weaken NC's "overpowered, bullshit, no skill whatsoever" empire stance and is thus completely unacceptable. By making the lasher even worse than it is now, we can avoid this scenario.

By the way, I think it should be pointed out that no matter what is changed in a patch to affect balance, the enemies of those made stronger will always complain, even if the balance patch proved to be a perfect success.
People seem to get used to beating people, and when suddenly those same people fighting with the same weapons are suddenly a challenge, they consider it imbalanced, even though they may have been able to defeat you prior to the patching anyway, were their weapon on par with yours.
