So what do you think we'll get this month?

Last month we got the skygaurd and were supposed to get the Liberator, which showed up a couple weeks ago. This months ticking along, and I'm wondering what, if anything, you guys think they'll do for the consumer this month.

Yeah, they seem to get quiet in two situations

A) They don't have shit ready or don't know what's wrong (just beta experience)

B) When they have some stuff they're aaaaalmost ready to suprise you with.

I want to bet you a $1,000 you will be wrong Hamma. Have you seen the gameplay footage from E3? First time I saw it I was blown away, and everytime I watch it, I am still amazed. HL2 is going to blow everything made to date out of the water.

To say that HL2 is going to be a bust is gamers blasphemy, it looks absolutely gorgeous, and the physics are as real as they get. I'll have to smack you next time I see you in PS Hamma. Did you not play the first one?

I played the first one. I wasn't impressed. Also, the graphics look excellent on HL2, there is no denying that. However, graphics are not the game. If the graphics were amazing, but the gameplay sucks, well, you'd have...uhm...Star Wars Galaxies.

Personally, I think we're going to get violated in the ass and/or wallet, yet again but that's just me. Oh, and maybe the Lodestar (yet another dilution of strategy, GG) if they care enough.

I'd be thrilled and mega-surprised if they could deliver on promises they made, say, during early BETA instead of adding new things that are largely inconsequential to gameplay. The skyguard sucks, and the liberator solves the pressing issue of "how do I kill complete noobs standing around in an open field?" Thanks for adding those instead of platoons, Sony.

E3 demos are NOT a good judge of ANYTHING. They are DESIGNED to do one thing: impress you so you will buy the game no matter what. Granted, HL2 might be really good, but if you think the entire game will play like 40 hours of non-stop E3 footage, you will be SADLY mistaken. Especially when you find out that the AI isn't really "that smart" and there are jumping puzzles. E3 showed some engine ability, not a realistic depiction of HL2 gameplay.

Though, it will be better than HL1 if they don't FORCE you to sit through a LONG intro while you ride into work.

I do. The game is fun sometimes but the total lack of learning curve and tactics mixed with the rampant bugs (..and exploits) makes it very difficult to enjoy as of late.

Just make sure you stop playing when it's not fun. You won't help anyone out by continuing to play if you don't enjoy it. If you reach the point where you hate PS, but you keep paying and playing, any complaints you make will be moot.

Did you just tell a guy who is paying to play this game not to play it, and not to complain about the problems and defects in the product he is actively paying for? WTF? Why does he have to help anyone out at all? He's not playing the game for them is he?

By the end of the month, I think we're definatly going to get some luvin' for Adv. Medics (and engineers, too), since that stuff is basically on the test server (icons, corpse-radar, etc.)
We *might* get the base abilities (Repair pads, AMP stations giving vehicles shields, etc. etc.). We *might* see some base defense stuff go in, along the lines of the back door being unhackable from the outside, etc. but nothing major like huge blastdoors in the arches leading into the CY. :(

I was by no means saying that I was basing this because of its graphics. I loved the first HL (the graphics suck in it) and all of its expansions. Every game of sierras that I have played I have liked and considering that most people would agree that sierra has almost always produced the goods I would have to say that HL2 is going to change the way we play games.

PS. Galaxies blows. I mean really, what is a star wars game without jedi.

Hmmmmmm. well I loved the first HL a lot, but 4 years have passed, and the world of gaming has changed. All the graphics in the world and a great story don't matter much today in this age of multi-player. I don't know, I'll have to see it, but don't believe the hype.

Half-Life was a decent game. Not great but decent. In my opinion games that let you do anything you want. Like Freelancer, EV Nova, Deus EX (kinda), are the best. Also lan games like Red Alert 2 and such. Basically everyone has a different idea of what the perfect game would be. So you cant really say HL2 is gonna be the be all end all of gaming. You may love it by I may hate it.

Seriously, why are some of you under the impression that they're gonna be rolling out content any day now?

The door bug has been in for, say, the past 4 months, and it's still not fixed.

The spawn tube bug is absolutely cripping to gameplay and they haven't even acknowledged that it exists.

I still fall through the world in sanctuary at least once a day, and the best part is that when I come back with the deathcam� pointed at my corpse, there are always several other people there too.

Et cetera. They haven't fixed some ancient, gameplay-slaughtering bugs and you're ancipating lots of new content? Heh.
