View Full Version : jammers: do they work on spitfires?

do jammer grenades break spitfires and motion detectors?
this would be REALLY useful, as spitfires can ALWAYS see infiltrators, and what is a minor annoyance for a reinforced can splatter a cloaker on the wall.

yes, they take out turrets and motion sensor alarms for a few seconds, i use them to disable the turrets, then run up and destroy them.
oh yeah you can use them for base turrets too.

LOL - grenades...pounder.... IDEA!!! (well a joke idea)
Load up the pounder with plasma grenades, and instead of launching those exploding things.. they spam plasma grenades everwhere!!! Pure Mayhem!! More GRIEF!

well i mean jammers, and not the pounder throwing thing (tho it would be funny). jsut like the weapon flips bak and launches a jammer nade (1 every 3 seconds).....
i believe they do. ... mostly just testing my profile though...
can you all see the pic of my face?

. . . how many seconds? i need enough time to take out an REK, and hack a door without the hacking cert.

About 10 seconds, I think. Enough time that I can cross about 30 or 40m (in reinforced) and destroy it with a minor weapon, like an AMP or suppressor.
Frankly, I'd just take out the turret first if I were you, instead of opening the door first, since 9 times out of 10 there's going to be a mines on the doors if turrets were planted. Once the turret is removed, you have time to look for the mines and you won't run the risk of the turret firing on you while you're working the door.

If your an Infil then just crouch walk, if not then just take everyone elses advice
I belive jammer nades put out anything they can for 20 seconds.
Remember, time flys when your in a battle so it may not seem as long.

or u can use EMP to destroy deployables if ur have high enough CR.
Sleepwalker
2003-07-15, 10:30 PM
what's the CR requirement for that? and will it result in even more equipment for me to carry?

CR3 and higher
And yes, you need to carry the Command Uplink Device to use EMP (a 3x3...pistole size).

aww man. i'm already carrying my REK, my MedAP, my repeater, one extra ammo can for my MedAP, and 50 ammo for my repeater. i don't have room for ANOTHER item!
just for the sake of curiousity i did a little experiment, and you do have time to throw a jammer at a spitfire, and then run about 5 m, hack a door, and get inside safely. -- just incase you ever find yourself in that kind of situation.

Teyb, thanks for coming back and posting that. Every little bit of info DOES help.

Heres a bit of info for ya then:
HOLD SHIFT (EG WALK) Then Turrets will not notice you. This goes for ANYBODY not just infiltrators.
wait-- if your hacking a door, will the turrets notice you? because technically, your not moving.
and also if you run, and then a spitfire fires at you and then you start walking will it stop firing at you?

You can hack without the spitfires noticing you.
If you are running and they start firing at you, you're much better off stopping or crouching right away. You'll still get ripped, but you'll survive (assuming you had full health to begin with). If you try to keep running and hope to get out of range you'll probably end up running right into another spitfire.

u can always just crouch walk to get by spittys un-hurt it works for infils and infantry. i used crouch walk alot when i had infil suit, i would only run when i thought i would not be noticed.
