I realized that I was kinda of cheap skate when I bought this computer its a 2.0 ghz proc 40 gb hard drive gfore 4 64 mb with the tvi out(that's probauly wrong)

I realize now that 256 ram is crap !!! so I want to stick in another 256 chip so I went to go find the stuff that came with my computer BUT I MOVED AND I CAN'T FIND IT !!!:furious:

its a dell dimension 4500 does anyone know how I can get the information about upgrading my computer?

I called dell but they said please hold and 3 hours later I hung up

the worst part about this is that I can't find my back up drivers or software so if this computer goes down I am F--ked

you can buy more ram easy at places like www.newegg.com

you probably have ddr ram since you have a p4 2.0ghz, so just get some more of that and slap it in there.

Goto www.crucial.com for the ram, you should be able to plug in your model to there site, and it will tell you what you have.

As for Drivers goto http://support.dell.com and plug in your Service code, it's on the back of the machine. It will give you a listing of every driver for that machine. Download'em, burn'em and be done. Do it before you crash otherwise you're FUBAR'd.

Are you asking where you can find RAM or where you can find the stuff in case your computer goes in the craper(like system restoration disks)?

When I wasn't sure what kind of RAM my PC had, I went to my local comp store (Microcenter), told him my processor and some other info, and he picked out the RAM for me. You may want to hang on the phone will Dell just to make sure.

It probably is DDR. Make sure you find out the speed though (it's probably pc2100 or pc2700). If you have pc2100 and buy pc2700 they will both run at pc2100 speed (so you will have wasted money buying the more expensive pc2700).

Speaking of ram speed. If i have a 256 PC2100 should i stick with that and simply add another 256+ or should i replace it with 2700 instead? Is the difference taht big? Also does an A7A266 handle 2700?

I'm pretty sure PC2100 is as high as it goes. Think it takes either PC1600/PC2100.

Yeah that's what i'm thinking as well. Is there really much of a difference between PC2100 and 2700?

I run my pc2700 ram at pc2100 speeds in Turbo mode (in bios). My ram is so cheap (samsung) that I can't do pc2700 Turbo, so pc2100 Turbo is faster than regular pc2700 . There isn't THAT much of a difference, especially since just putting it in turbo mode brings it above pc2700 regular. pc2700 turbo would ne nice tho... or pc3200! :D
