EXTREMLY slow performance

Ok, I've defragged atleast 3 times, done a virus check, and my computer is STILL running as slow as mud. PS is lagging out (FPS wise) and so are all my other games. Right now, all I have is Internet Explorer and I have 100% CPU usage, and 35 processes? wts? I have Win XP if that matters...any help would be great, I'm afraid I might have to re-format my HD but I don't know how.

As for the rest, it may be a dodgy hotfix? Q811493 I think is a dodgy one.

How, or rather should, I remove this hot fix?

EDIT: I've tried some of that tweaking, none of it helped...still waiting on the word to see if I should remove that hotfix or not.

if you do have it installed it is removable in add/remove programs in the control panel, it is perfectly fine to do however windows will pop up a message saying some things wont work, they will :)

that is if you have that hotfix

Uninstalling it now...hope it works.

wastn't microsoft supposed to release a hotfix for that hotfix? Oh and that really does work well
