I'd actually love to hear about the movie, i've been hearing about this series for so long but to buy the whole thing on DvD would cost me like 300+ bucks so if the movie is true to the series and all i could buy that first and then perhaps in the future buy the series.

Also not to hijack this thread but is Lain any good? That's another collection i planned to buy but i never saw it so i dunno. :)

KoHD was good, but it didn't really add any depth - it was reminiscent of the middle episodes of the series for me. A worthy DVD purchase, however.

Dio: Feh on Lain. It's difficult to get into, especially for an American audience (see below). From the standpoint of pure entertainment value, it's decent, I guess.

Triguns good, but i only LOVED the first half of the series.
Bebop Pwns all, and ive seen the movie 7 times, 3 times dubbed, 3 times subs, and 1 time just japanese.
There are a few animes where dubs are actually good and/or better/worse than subs, but there are more where dub ruins the entire series.
I love trigun with subs, but cant stand it dubbed. -shudder-

I didn't like Trigun that much. Lodoss was good. You may like Scryed, Full Metal Panic!, Berserk....try those out.

Yeah Neon Genesis Evangelion is like 200 of the 250 $ of anime i got. :D (perfect collection + rebirth + end of evangelion)

I'll have to check out Trigun, i like the serious types of anime of much as the zanny(sp??), it's one of the reasons why Lain interests me, heck NGE could be described the same way as Trigun i guess. The first 10-20 episodes are pretty laid back and fun but the last episodes (especially last 3 or 4) are very serious and also pretty weird. :)

As for Akira i watched it (another part of my small anime collection) and it's ok but it wasn't the huge masterpiece i heard it was by so many. I by far prefer my NGE collection and Ghost in the shell (the final piece or my collection aside from Animatrix).

If you saw and liked Trigun you should check out Neon Genesis Evangelion. Like i said it's the same thing, funny and goofy then later on serious and weird, plus it has huge robots fighting aliens in a Ultraman type thing, how can you go wrong? :p

Well done dubbing>sub titles. Why? Because it's in my language and good voice acting is good voice acting no matter what language it's in. Then again if you like listening to Japanese then more power to ya.

I just can't listen to it w/subtitles because I can never keep a straight face while watching anything that's all in Japanese. The accent and inflections of the language have me rolling in laughter almost immediately. I think I've seen too many bad Japanese sci-fi movies with subtitles :p

Haha ya....the series is weird. From all the episodes ive watched i kinda guessed that "special" plants are taken control of people.*shrugs* Or it could be something that came outta nowhere, such as OJ Simpson is Sercretly building a pot factory under japan and in reality all the main characters are just high....*shrug*. lol, they went in this building and all the humans smelled something but these other two people didnt. I forget what they where i really dont care.

So all these humans were trying to eat them because they were like hypnotized by the smell. Like a shark smells blood i guess.

Just the animation was shakey the plot of that episode sucked.....
