Grief goes down way to slow in this game

im only at 212 right now but its going to take a few days for this to go down to zero, and thats hoping no one steps in front of my shots too. I think they need to make grief go down by 25-30 points a hour. Its truely not fair for the player who had a run of bad luck with people in charging in front of his shots. Any thoughts?

My solution:

One enemy kill = one grief point subtracted. This is in addition to the current subtraction-over-time.

Before you say "what about support classes! they don't kill as many people!" - well, unless you're getting lots of grief with the medical applicator, this isn't even an issue.

I think a percentage of xp you get should determin how much grief you loose

I'm really really confused by how people get all this grief.

I'm a fairly careless gunner in that I see a target I shoot and keep shooting till its dead I'm dead or a idiot walks into my fire.

I keep at about 80 grief and sometimes as high at 250 but never higher and yet I hear endless crying about weapon lock ups. I had a guy join my squad with his weapons locked so he was sent on a ant run he managed to run over 2 of us.

The way I see it if your weapons locked you are either being a ass or you play like your the only person that matters or you have the motor skills of your average EQ player; either way I'm glad and feel safer when your weapons lock.

Before my main char became a driver i got virtually no grief, but drivign round in a Van every night i find avoiding the moron that wants to run under a moving tank impossible sometimes and can easily get 200 gp in a bad night, but never got above 500 overall so its not been a problem to me.

You loose about 144 grief pts a day. I got weapon lock the first night I got a vanguard...Yeah I had a blast but 56 grief to 1024 itsnt good. What did I do? I stopped play, I know its hard control yourself and stop playing for 2 or 3 days. Pick up a book, seea movie, try dating. When you come back you will be fine. If you get alot of grief and keep playing your only taking the risk of getting more and more grief pts. In about 8 days I was back to like 23 grief pts.

right now it is -114 each day, dont know what is wrong with that, since I never go above 30ish, and use grenades, tanks and shotguns all the time... I think its just fine...

*though I dont think that you should get grief for getting run over :p *

I'd have to agree with those saying that grief is fine. Even when I used to use a thumper or a Reaver, I don't think I ever went above 100 grief. Most of what I do get is from bumping people in the courtyard, or when you blow an AMS up and the splash takes out a few of your guys.

As for why you get a handful of grief for getting hit or run over, yes you are doing damage to the other guy's vehicle. This was also a great solution because I remember some idiots in Beta who would stand on the vehicle ramp and you had no choice but to run them over or you'd lose your vehicle. Why somebody would do this? An imaginary cookie to anyone who can answer...

Something to consider, if you haven't already, is to start playing in squads and outfits... because you don't get any grief for hurting them. Even if your fellow outfit guys aren't in your squad, you won't take any grief. Stick together and whenever that stray 'nade or shot hits somebody, it'll be one of your own and you can say sorry by whipping out a medical applicator or BANK.

One thing that would be nice is if you repair the guy you damaged, you should get some of that grief taken away.
