I was wondering if anyone used to/still does play ^ game. Old one, that I started playing again after three years because my current semi-retro gaming trend. And I've become re-obsessed. Enough to buy the expansion off one of my friends. So, anyone?

That game owns! I played that game for a long ass time. I can't wait for HW2.

Try this, meant for skirmish only (the Kadeshi don't have Salvage Corvettes, so you can only get halfway through first level :tear: ). Remember the Kadeshi? The guys in the nebula with the badass fighters (and tons of them)? Fun, no research ships to gaurd (I guess the Needle Mothership does it), although there are like five techs that are just to lead to other ones. Needle Mothership is fast as hell, for a mothership (don't know if it can ram like in the campaign, though). Collecters can easily outrun pursuing captiol ships (durable, too), equivilent of a Resource Controller is very heavily armored, and looks like the Research Station on the supernova radiation level (no guns, though). Multibeam Frigates and their Heavy Cruisers need huge nerfing (One Heavy Cruiser takes forever to build, but can take down a Mothership in ~1 1/2 minutes, and this one rips through fighters, no need to worry about those thirty Bombers coming if you have one Kadeshi Heavy Cruiser). They are plagued by HUGE build times, though.

yes homeworld owns, i would still play it but my stupid comp wont let me re-install it....damn thing....

guess ill have to wait fer hw2...

HW was very fun, as was the expansion (liked the expansion better, though it needed 3 races out of the box IMO, 2 just dosnt do it anymore in stragity games)

It must be the all time best 3d stragity game yet to see light of day, hands down.

I did play that for some time (never did finish the singleplayer for the expansion, Im not big into singleplayer stuff, I live online ;) )

I have been looking at HW2, and it is me, or does it look like they used the same graphics eng and just updated it so they could slightly bump up the textures/effects? I hope that there will be more than 2 sides, I also hope that the sides will be very different vs the almost identical sides in the 1st one....

Well anyway, we shall see how it goes....

eh vulcan, the sides are alot different now and i think the graphics look better. oh and look in the hw2 section of homeworld shipyards (http://www.homeworldshipyards.com) to see the bigest collection of homeworld. cata, and hw2 screenies thta ive ever seen.

I just see it being lots of fighters &few cap ships vs lots of capital ships w/fighter escort....

And I remember hearing that the 1st game would have different sides as well :lol: :p

Dont get me wrong, I do hope that the 2 sides are different and balanced, however IMO all good stragity games now adays needs a 3rd main race for multiplayer, and all 3 need to be different from the ground up.

i dont know for sure but i think mecha(a dev) said something about mabye a 3rd race for multi....not sure tho

squeeky go *cough*DL*cough* it and try it out, the comps [skirmish] pretty easy, but campaign is hard! its fun, and while it dosent look great, its fun
