Exactly what are they? Clans or something. I mean, how would you team play in a 2,000+ player game?

I dont think all members of any given outfit all play at once.. Outfits are good at keeping the people you play well with close by. You can do the same thing with the friends list but it isnt as fun as being part of a bigger team. Knowing each kill. each hack. is giving your outfit points. :)

well outfits kinda guarantee u will be in a squad at all times unless u wanna solo, IMO. ALSO u get a kool looking decal to go on ur armor and vehicles.

Certain outfits specialise in a certain area too.

Eg armor. Or Anti-Vech. or maybe a support role.

Have a few of these outfits working together in harmony and battles go pretty well.

Outfits are effectively (one game) clans, but are also used as a way for existing clans to organise in PS.

There is the odd outfit "thing" like points for orbital strikes etc, but basically it's just social, and your first stop on logging on is to find or start a squad of outfit players. That's not excluse though, you can still join any squad, or have non-outfit players in a squad.

There's been talk of "platoons" to create a command tier one higher than the squad and allow an outfit to play more closely together, but that hasn't been patched in yet.

Personally, I can't see the point of a "specialised" outfit... why lumber yourself with one role. The vehicles and (especially) "aircraft" are far too simplistic to use them exclusively.

Well as the leader of a "specialized" outfit, let me rebuttle ;)

Given, one role is too simplistic to use exclusively, but also remember you do not "have" to join the Outfit squad every time you log on.

But ponder this, is it easier to setup a squad at sanc to do a specific role, or rather have a outfit that has recruited people that are willing to do the role required, be it not everytime they logon, do they have to do the "specific" role.

I run an ANT Outfit, we make sure that the TR bases are always filled up and well taken care of. Also we do other support roles when requiered, be it cap the last few towers on a cont that has had all the bases already hacked.
Its not for everyone, and sometimes we arnt needed, but it is alot easier to organize a squad for the "specialized" role, with the SHIFT - O option, as opposed to /b LFS members to run ANTS

Kylia has some good peeps in her outfit, squaded a couple of times and had fun. Of course I wasn't involved in any ant runs which wouldn't have been my cup o tea.

Outfits themselves are just your run of the mill clan; it's the quality of the people and the organization that makes or breaks them.

Hats off to your ANT outfit Kylia; too bad you're not NC. :D
