Will there be headshots like there is in counter strike and ut2k3? I'm not saying htey'd be one hit kills but I'd like them to give more damage then a regular chest shot or a leg shot. If they didn't have headshots there wouldn't be any skill in aiming at infantry.

I don't think there is any bonus for a headshot except with the bolt-driver, hamma would know for sure.

Wow, that's incredibly gay, that would probably ruin the game for me. People shooting me in the leg to kill me. *shudders*
Also, how many assault rifle shots would it take to take down a medium armored soldier?
Yeah i'm hoping for seperate body damage as well but i get the feeling that's not how PS will work. I agree it sucks but well we can't really do anything about it. :(

Also, will your aim be all fucked up while moving like it is in raven shield, or will it be like ut2k3 where your aim is always perfect? Where no matter how fast your moving your bullets hit where your crosshair is aiming.
ps uses cone of fire. so yes it will be like raven shield.
ut2k3 uses pixel perfect
and i was hoping there'd be seperate body part damage as well.

So basically to hit anything at a distance we'd have to be standing in one spot, not moving. Wow, sounds great for snipers...
No sarcasm there, seriously, everyone will be really easy shots for snipers if anyone trys to fight back from a distance.

Yea but u cant one shot heavier armors.
I suspect this is somthing people will get pissed about.. I dont see how they cant implement region specific damage. Or whatever its called.

Ah crap i was looking forward to being able to give mor damage to someone by hitting them in the head it will be way to easy to hit someone thats why i love sniping that way it gives a good challenge evan though i said it will be way to easy i haven't played the game yet so it might be different.
I wouldn't worry to much about the cone of fire increasing when moving because all that really means is that you don't need to aim as well to hit the guy when moving because you reticle can be a fair ways off and a few bullets still hit the guy.

One thing I heard about having headshots is that it encourages aimbots, but I have seen an aimbot broken down and I have seen how they work, I am not sure how someone would use one with a CoF type aiming system, but it is probably possible. I don't think there will be headshots, based on the posts I have read about cheating.

The crosshair/circle thing adds a second circle when you're moving. That second circle indicates a larger cone, but that cone of fire (outer circle aim) dosn't get anny bigger until you start to actually fire, now if you fire while running you're only going to have the first few shots somewhat acurate then it's spray and pray... best thing seems to be to fire in bursts.
The less you move the faster the aim gets small again and the more time it takes before it starts to get big when you fire. Less movement = better aim... Running while shooting = crappy aim after the first 2-3 rounds.
Getting shot also increases the crosshair/circle and decreases your accuracy.
And if you're wondering where i got this info then watch gamespot video 11 and 12 =)

The one thing I hate about CS is headshots. Ok there's all the lamers and the hackers.... and.... um.. I just hate headshots.
I think headshots should only be viable for snipers, because it annoys me so much when some just sprays and gets a lucky headshot =(
Yeah but you're only thinking about that situation. What about if you (when you get to play it :D) sneak up on a guy from behind and shoot him in the head with presicion, wouldn't you want your stealth and aim rewarded?

Location specific damage is cool but doesn't add to much IMO. Getting killed by being shot in your little toe sucks but in practice it just means you always aim for your targets center mass.
It also makes partial cover a little more effective . . .

Best arguement for headshots I've seen.

Can't we all just complain to the game devs and FORCE them to put in head shots? Isn't that possible? Because I think it would really suck if it didn't even have the most basic area specific damage (Head & body).

See dio, that's why I'm hoping using a knife will be 1 hit kill or at least 2.
And if you get that close, you should be able to kill them easily enough before they turn around.

I love knifing peeps in the head. It's so much damn fun
Well that's why i hope they implement head and body damage. So you can sneak up and use your knife in the head from behind to kill him but on the body it will do little damage. Same for snipers. Seperate damage for the head and body just makes sense to me.

Yeah, but those cheats that use that head shot cheat thingy could be a problem... Oh well, the good things out weigh the bad things so far.
Yeah but aimbots and other wussy crap is less of a problem on a MMO game. It's not like CS where little Jimmy down the street can create his own server where cheating is allowed. The servers will be runned by SOE. You cheat, someone reports you, you get banned. Simple.
Besides if you wanna pay 10+/month to cheat you're an idiot. :p

 true true  Hmm.... it would be kind of cool if there were SOE people playing along side us, we don't have to know who they are, but knowing that the SOE staff is also playing will encourage people to not cheat.

So if i get this right the only reason why they aren't implimenting seperate body parts for seperate damage is because of cheaters using things like aimbot? Isn't there a way to stop this or if there caught evan being banned?

I think hitboxes such as head and body would be fair. You should be rewarded for being able to hit a reletively small section off their body that is somewhat sepparated from the rest, rather than just aiming for middle of them.
Its kind of a gamble aiming for the head, because if you miss, chances are you hit nothing, while if you aim for the chest, you'll doo less damage, but you'll hit almost for sure. Also, it would be nice to be rewarded for being sneeky by fireing few bullets and killing them faster.
However, I dont think the headshots should be persued to the extream that CS did. We are for the most part all wearing armor made from very strong and advanced mettals/plastics. Also, helmets are the thickest/strongest part of the armor sense every other part must allow for much more movement, even the chestplate.
