'Surely' the noble soldier thought 'my soul left with it'. He was now less than an inch away. Time froze, as it always seems to do at the advent of such a life-altering event. Then it happened. The first drop was sucked into is intake, and seemingly knowing what was about to happen, sirens resounded inside the cockpit. Hamma, though, was already gone it seemed. He was himself but not himself. He was watching himself. He couldn't move, see, hear, breathe, listen or smell. "Am I..." before he finished his thought, it seemed his body grappled his escaping conciousness and sucked it back into it's rightful place. Sights, sounds, and smells flooded his psyche. He felt it then--a shuddering--not much at all, but it seemed to him that his reaver was being ripped apart nanite by nanite. Water flooded into a a newly-formed crack in the steel canopy. And he closed his eyes as the cold hands of death pried his soul from his body. Game over.
