I finally got the final component for my new PC, the CPU, and everything went smoothly while putting it together up to this point, this is a copy of the e-mail I sent the company (ncix.com) in complaint, please tell me if you can answer the questions... I don't wanna wait for more packages in the mail, lol.:
Hi, I recently ordered 1400$ worth of components from your site to build a PC from the ground up. While checking for motherboard and CPU specifications, I decided on an AMD Athlon XP 2600+, and An Asus A7N8X (SKU: 8961) for the motherboard. There were no specifications about the Motherboard on your site, and I knew since it was Nforce2, I needed an AMD processor, so I went to the ASUS site and checked out the specs on the motherboard, it says it is compatible with AMD Athlon XP's (http://usa.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?langs=09&m=A7N8X). With the CPU as the last piece I need to install, since it was shipped late... not that I care that much, I locked it into the slot and was trying to install the CPU fan for about an hour, and when the latches wouldn't reach, I thought maybe there was a manufacturing flaw, while looking through the manual, I noticed that (under the A7N8X Specifications Summary) that it says:
"Socket A for AMD Duron/Athlon/Athlon XP 3000+ or higher
400*/333MHz FSB Support (*PCB 2.0 or later versions)"
Does this mean the CPU is not compatible? Or am I just not installing the fan properly and there's a misprint in the manual? If it is NOT compatible, I feel I was misinformed, as I took all steps to make sure my components were compatible, and would hope that I would be comp'd for the return and re-shipping of a compatible CPU or Motherboard (of course I'll pay for the up/down-grade). Thanks
Will
Thanks guys
