How cool is Planetside? So awesome that an expansion pack is already being worked on for this fall. New weapons, maps, and vehicles are on the top of the list, and we hear that you may be given the chance to form platoons. First off, we kno platoons are coming and is the lodestar. but MAPS!, and WEAPONS! first off it was in the "loose talk" section of the magizin....but really, this fall.....which month does fall start?

sad to hear that one of the most anticipated features in Planetside (platoons) are going to be released in an expansion pack.

They designed the game to have a flamer but when they tested it in alpha with only the designers they realised that even with a minimal number of people it would lag too much...

They could do a plasma thrower tho... dunno have to think of a concept!

I sure hope they don't plan on postponing things like platoons, Lodestar and extra maps (i.e., water maps and naval combat)- these things were promised as core game additions.

how would that work?
i mean if some1 doesnt get the xpansion pack can they just like not go somewhere i think thats kind of gay. I mean WTF do we pay 4. What they should do is make it so u can download the xpansion pack 4 free or u can buy it for a cheap price.

It would have to be super cheap (Go to the website on my previous post) to make it worth while. I kind of like the free download idea though, and you'd have to put in the CD registration (Go to the website on my previous post) key. That way you'd get it and it would seem like the ULTIMATE GAME UPGRADE!!! or the SUPER MMOFPS GAME PATCH and not just (Go to the website on my previous post) some expansion pack.

You pay for patches and customer support. See the Liberator and Skyguard? Your monthly fee at work.

Expansions also cannot be made for download most of the time. The entire point of an expansion is that they're adding so much to the game that it is far too large to put up for download. If the expansion adds 400mb of new weapons, armor, vehicles, and maps, it would be insanely slow if they put that 400mb up for download. Especially when a boxed expansion on a shelf both let's them stick on a manditory box charge to help pay for the expansion (no, monthly fees generally do not ever cover the costs of an expansion) and gives them some free advertising.
