Is everyone in the game going to start with a pistol like in counter strike.
and is the MAG-Scatter the New Conglomerate's pistol?
IF it is i think the NC are going to have an edge starting off.

Well, personally I severely doubt that you will only start off with a pistol because you can earn BEPs in VR so you can start with a rifle, but if I had to vote......Vanu.
NC's MAG-Scatter is only effective at close range, TR's Repeater may be good, but it can't possibly be very accurate with a high rate of fire (which is how I use pistols in any game), and the AMP is common pool and same as TR. So the Vanu is the best in my opinion because it is he most accurate and probably the best at long range.
Sorry, you Vanu guys you can't use the anti-armor argument against any of the others, they probably are all equally good against armor, as the TR and AMP will surely have AP rounds and a small shotgun will damage armor as much as any AP round. However, the Vanu's distance is nice, cause I would rather not have to stand 10 feet from a tank to be able to damage it.

You silly nilly. You can get up to level 5 in the training area. And you get BEPs for crazy things like visiting a continent for the first time.
-edit- argh. Simultaneous posting =(

i thought that the amp was a submachine gun not a pistol.

AMP
Source:Common Pool
Handling: Pistol
Damage: Medium
Maximum Range: Medium
Refire Rate: Very Fast
The AMP is designed for close range combat. It is the only fully automatic weapon of its type and can empty a full clip of ammunition very quickly. However, it suffers from poor recoil, causing it to be very inaccurate when fired in full automatic mode.
Beamer
Source: Vanu Sovereignty
Handling: Energy Pistol
Damage: High
Maximum Range: Short
Refire Rate: Medium
The Beamer is the handy sidearm of the Vanu Sovereignty. It uses energy cells instead of regular ammunition, and thus has some flexibility over other sidearms. It can be converted from a regular energy blaster to a more focused, armor piercing shot that consumes more energy. Thus, it is good for regular close-in firefights as well as a reasonable anti-vehicular weapon.
Repeater
Source: Terran Republic
Handling: Pistol
Damage: Medium
Maximum Range: Medium
Recoil Penalty: Medium
Refire Rate: Fast
This is the primary sidearm for Terran Republic officers. It is a sturdy workhorse with a decent clip size, good damage, and reasonable range, making it very handy for close-quarters fights.
MAG-Scatter
Source: New Conglomerate
Handling: Shotgun Pistol
Damage: High
Maximum Range: Short
Refire Rate: Fast
Essentially a handheld shotgun pistol, the Scatter Pistol is primarily designed for close quarters combat. Due to its short barrel design, the Scatter Pistol loses effectiveness beyond a relatively close range.
Ya its a pistol.
And i figured it'd be easier for reference in answering.

ah, but you forget the fact your default weapon cert also gives you the suppressor.

If I were to use any of the pistols it would be the repeater. It is fast so if a fight started then it could contend with a bigger gun better than the beamer or MAG-scatter which both have short range.

The main use of pistols seems like if you are in an infiltrator suit. The shorter range /higher damage NC pistol seems best to me for that.
Ok first of all you do NOT start out with only 1 cert. Even without using the VR you start with standard assault and 1 or 2 others to get you around and stuff.
Second Sorry, you Vanu guys you can't use the anti-armor argument against any of the others, they probably are all equally good against armor, as the TR and AMP will surely have AP rounds
Yes but (and this applies to every TR/NC weapon) you have to take both types of ammo so if you run out of AP then you have to rely on the normal and if you're up against a MAX or something you're screwed. But with the VS weapons there is 1 type of ammo for AP and normal rounds so you can't run out of just 1 type of ammo. :)

When I was there, there was some talk on allowing people to start with a vehicle cert as well. Its rough if your alone with no ride :)

It makes sense to allow people to always use buggies
Well i'm pretty sure i read a dev (most likely Smokey :D) say that everybody starts with a cert or 2 + the standard assault. Maybe i dreamed it. :)
They will give 1 vehicle cert for sure, would be stupid to force you to use VR first just so you can play the real game.

I wouldn't mind the cert for the little quad thing... It's not like that can cause seroius damage. And don't you have to have advanced stealth to cloak the quad too? So it really wouldn't be too much trouble.

Standard assault is free - no cert points.
Probably will be a free vehicle cert too.. id guess it will be the quad.
Nah i would say buggy, buggy seems like the "average" vehicle to me, it can do a bunch of stuff, the quad is for stealth and/or scout missions.
That or they will just give you 1 cert and you use it on any vehicle you want. :)

Yeah, but the quad seems like it'd cause less trouble. Buggies can cause damage, quads can't. But anyways most peeps will probly spend a cert on a mosquito or reaver at first.

I was talking the non-stealth quad. Whatever its called.

Isn't there only the stealth quad?
quad equals four. most of the vehicles have 4 wheels thus a quad could just as easily refer to one of the buggies as it could the ATV vehicle.
There's the Wraith and the Basilik. One can cloak, other doesn't but has guns.
As for buggies making more damage yes obviously but if every single person starts with the cert for it it won't affect the game much, it's not like 1 empire will have an advantage because of it.

Why would I refer to the buggy as a quad? When I said quad, I meant the ATV type deal, as Dio said the Wraith and the Basilik.

A)It's spelled "Basilisk" as in the snake from that harry pothead movie(yes, I waisted 3 hours of my life on it).
B)I think if they include a default vehicle cert it would be the Harrasser as you need 2 people to do any real damage with it, and it seamls like a relitively simple vehicle(heck, I could probalby drive it if it was real).
The Basalisk has machine guns, so one person could do damage with something other than the front bumper. Also, ATVs are notable harder to drive than a Buggy because of ballance concerns. If you hit a bump badly on an ATV, you could be on a 1-way trip over the handle-bars.
Just my thoughts.
The harasser is a buggy. :)
