Will many installations look different? I mean will certain bases have different paths, rooms etc. inside? Will it depend on the type of base or the area or what?

they haven't said much about this, but some will be different because of the size. otherwise i have no clue

I'm sure each installation will have its quirks, but I believe that most should look quite similar.
Anytime an organization builds a lot of buildings, certain layouts, parts, etc... are standardized upon and get used over and over and over again because they work well and are familiar. Not to say that there is not variation because of land forms, function, etc... but many hallways, corridors, doors, entranceways, etc... look very similar.
I expect the insides of most installations to look a lot like the other ones. Maybe different layouts at most, but expect the same textures to be reused and abused on most indoor environments.

Exactly.
There are a few around here that have nice little bits. One has a big fireplace with a widescreen TV above it, another has a 7' x 4' glass birdcage with a big bar/eating area around it so you can sit and watch the birds while you eat. But otherwise, the seats, tables, floor, counter, food prep, bathroom, exterior, etc... all looks the same. Perfect example.
Although if I see a fireplace or birdcage in PS, I may be a tad taken aback.

lol i would too, but it would be pretty boring having just a bunch of corridors and large rooms, they should have at least some objects like maybe uh um... nevermind

I was guessing each type of base would look the same. And each base on a continent would all have the same texures. But each continent would have it's own texure inside and out. Snow = white, forest = green, dessert = tan, jungle = hmm.... dark green?, etc... I hope it's atleast that diverse.

Im guessing that each sanctuary will have distinctive differences in it's "look" (I forgot the correct word...)

I wonder if the temples are still in the game and what they do?
Someon should ask that at the shoutcast.

Although I don't know what the temples are, I remember hearing that they are no longer part of the game.

I think they were replaced by the towers

Every facility type likely looks the same. So a Dropship Facility will be identical from continent to continent, but it will look different when compared to a Medical-oriented building. And so on and so forth.

I do believe rouge13 stated that each facility is unique. I could try digging that up...

Gah, I can't find it so take that with a grain of salt. But I'm fairly certain I saw a dev state somewhere that each base will be unique and not just cut and paste jobs all over the world.

No you didn't. ;)
The bases of the same type will look the same.
However, they are adding little differences (i.e. clutter).
Personally, I like it this way. I have trouble memorizing maps.

Another thing I ahve about E&B is the starbases. EArth, which houses over 600,000 people and Luna which is a small military station are the exact same in size and inside appearance. Such a let down. Frist time I saw that I thought I'd get to experience an entire city in this. How could they be so stupikd as to do that?!?!?! They were the EXACT same...

I'm hoping that base lay-outs are differant for type (ie. Bio Lab is differant from Amp station) and that interior textures and such are differant for type (Bio has kind of a Hospital look while Amp would resemble a power station).
I'm also hoping the dev team does not ignore ambiant(sp?) sounds, like hearing monitors beep in the Bio lab or the hum of power cables in the Amp station.
I'm wanting to see how the Sanctuaries will differ in appearance.
Sputty: I found the Terran bases boring, the Jenqui bases looked very cool, the Progen bases had real cool door animations and had a good Military feel to them.

Layouts for the different base types will indeed be different.

*shrug* Oh well, at least the base clutter will most likely differ on a base to base basis...wow say "base to base basis" 3 times fast ;) .
One problem with ambient sounds: While they may be cool to hear the first few times and help with the immersion, they tend to get repetative and annoying (I don't know about you, but if I was defending a certain portion of a base for 30 minutes or more, and kept hearing the same *beep beep beep* sound effect over and over every 10 seconds...I'd be going nuts). It's hard to have unique sounds each time. If they do put ambient sounds in it might be best to have a toggle to turn them off. But who knows? Maybe the devs will do a good job of pulling off unique sound effects. I wonder who's working on the sound effects?
