View Full Version : What will you be on WoW?

I'll probably be a night elf druid on one char, and some kinda freaky assassin on another. It's mostly the shapeshifting I want.

I was leading toward the night elves too, but everyone and their one armed mother is going to be a night elf, so I might go with the underdogs. {BOHICA} will probably see what most of our wow players want to be, and pick alliances like that. It's just so damn far out.
I want to be a kickass Orc Warrior or somthing. anything orc...

I hope they've thought of some things I'd like:
1)Getting minerals to make weapons and stuff shouldn't be hideously boring. There's this game called runescape, in the 60s it take days to get enough minerals to level up, DAYS of straight working, ARGH! That's why almost everyone uses autominers in that game.
2)Make travel and exploration fun and exciting. Travel shouldn't be a chore. If I'm headed from Point A to Point B, there should be stuff to see, creatures walking around, you know what I mean?
I'll think of a 3 and maybe a 4 later.

In WoW, the better the material for crafting, the more dangerous the area. There actually are no pure crafting classes in the game, so the best blacksmith will also be a good fighter. A player-driven economy is not something Blizzard wishes to achieve, and therefore crafting will be in as a fun activity for those who wish to partake it.
As for how boring crafting usually is, WoW puts emphasis on the gathering of the materials, and the creation of the item. Not only will getting materials for items involve a lengthy jaunt in itself much of the time, but finding a suitable place to force said item will also be a task. For example, you aren't going to be creating an immensely powerful sword or piece of armor in the town square; instead, you're going to have to go on a hunt for a suitably powerful forge, likely located deep within the bottom of a dungeon or some similarily dangerous location. Rather than make the same item 100 times, you'll spend the same amount of time actually going about making the item.
2)Make travel and exploration fun and exciting. Travel shouldn't be a chore. If I'm headed from Point A to Point B, there should be stuff to see, creatures walking around, you know what I mean?
Have you seen the videos? You can ride a Gryffin from here to there, for quick transport. Later on in your character's career, you can also acquire a horse, and later more... exotic... mounts on which to ride.
Anyway, if anyone has any questions about the game, just ask. I've been following it since it was announced, and know much of what there is to know about the game (which is, admittedly, not a hell of a lot).
And to answer the question posed, I'm probably going to be a Human Mage.

Personally I plan to make my Hunter the completely self-sufficient character. S/He travels by horseback, uses herbs and stuff, can repair his/her armor, and more. But it'll be fun to get some good minerals and build some super 1337 gun that can blow the shit out of anything.

It's pretty much a given that Trolls will be the third Horde race.

You'll have an easy time repairing your armor in a game without item durability. Item decay is redundant in a game which does not attempt to simulate a player-driven economy.

At first i really didn't think that i would be interested in this game.
i just thought i would be playing T:V...but now that i sat down and looked into the game, i think it could be a lot of fun! The only thing that could ruin my thoughts on this game is if it was pay to play... which i severely hope it isn't (i dont need another payment to worry about...too much hassle and $$).
i'll look around on the WoW site and see what i think i would be best as and post it later.

i think i would have to go with a hunter, i love using bows and have never been a big fan of druids in fantasy games. and why be a night elf warrior, when you can just use an orc for that.
mmm cant wait for WoW i will definatly drop Pside the day it hits the shelves...or if i get into beta :D

there ARE winter and jungle trolls as enemies in the game, and it seems a BIT suspicious that regular trolls aren't an option, which leads me to believe maybe they will be playable. that's the only thing i got going now.

Well, if you've played the Orc Campaign in The Frozen Throne, you'd see that the Island Trolls are brought off their little island off the coast of Kalimdor and transported to the relative safety of the Horde's territory. Essentially, the orcs saved the trolls from annihilation and made them their neighbours. Including the fact that Trolls are one of the oldest and clearly a much-loved race, and I think that it is completely obvious that Trolls will be the Horde's third race.
And that's completely discounting the fact that the Horde lacks an agility-focused race. The Alliance has Night Elves for their agile types, Dwarves for their brawn, and Humans for casters. The Horde mirrors that, with orcs taking the place of the Humans and Tauren the place of the Dwarves, but they do not have an agile race like the Night Elves. It's important for all sides to be relatively balanced in the sense that all playstyles are provided by each side, given that Horde can't group with Alliance. With sheer game mechanics in mind, it is logical for Trolls to be the final Horde race.
And I say final Horde race, because I also believe that there is a third side, as of yet unconfirmed. That side being, of course, the Blood Elf/Naga/Draenei team.

haha, that brightened up my day :D
yeah, undead probably WILL be playable, but i see that as being part of an expansion. or something. but i didn't know it was actually broken up into horde and alliance. if it is, then i don't see how trolls could NOT be in it, what with the 2v3 ratio.

Red, I totally agree with you on this. I need both the FPS and the RPG action to get my fix. :p
On a side note, is PS getting so boring (nothing to talk about) that we are talking about WoW? Oh well this is the lounge....hehe. I don't know what I would like to be yet. I am going to try em all :p That's usually what I end up doing anyway. I have noticed that when a RPG game comes out I say I am going to be this and after playing it, I decide to play another character type. I won't know for sure until the game comes out and I get to play the characters for awhile. With that said, I kind of like the idea of being a Warlock...man those elementals look impressive:p

What the hell are those last three? I never played Warcraft I and II.
They're races from the Warcraft III expansion. Blood Elves are the now renamed High Elves, who've turned to Demon magic after the destruction of their Sunwell and therefore their source of "normal" magic, which occurred during Warcraft III's main campaign set. The Naga are large snake-men, (spoiler)who are actually the Night Elves who almost brought about the destruction of the world 10,000 years prior, and were blasted to the depths during the Sundering. And the Draenei are, well, the Draenei. To give away a little, they're the other race which lived on the orc homeworld, and when Draenor was supposedly destroyed, the Draenei and some of the Fel Orcs lived on.

Well, they could always add Pandaren instead of Trolls. How lame would that be.

For me it's gonna be some strange character like an Orc who wants to live with dwarfs, a Night Elf cook, Human driud with a crow as a familar.
My serious character is of cource the wandering orc blademaster...like the wandering samuri.
But of course when undead are a playable race you will all fall to my Nerubian warrior
:D
BTW: IS eveyone realived at the step Blizzard is taking the art in this game? It's nice to see something that looks like it was annimated rather then the Everquest2-esque "bad CGI from 1997"

One nice thing about WoW's graphics is that they are low poly, but have really excellent textures which compensate (imo). So if you like the style, great, but as an added bonus, the game will run very well also, just like Warcraft 3.

Night Elf Hunter here. When my subscription to PS is up, and they haven't made it retardedly great by then, I'm grabbing WoW.

Night Elf hunter, I'll be using bow and sword as normal weaponry while I collect stuff to make my bad ass-uber 1337 super rifle. Then at a really high level I'd just ride around on my panther (my guess about what the Night Elf mount will be) and guard for people in dangerous areas. Take care of animals, if that doesn't work, rip out super gun if it's really tough and blow its brains out. They get attacked, I walk up to monster... *chk-chk* BAM!! Monster is blown away. But this sounds like an awesome game, I seriously look forward to it.
